   この『Echoes』以前はラプチャーと言えばファンの間では、一部の音楽マニアとファッション好きだけに人気があり、肝心のサウンドはビスケット缶の中で録音したかのような曲ばかりというイメージだった。しかしそんな疑いは捨てて欲しい。『Echoes』でボサボサヘアーのブルックリン出身の青年達は、2003年を代表する1枚を作ってしまったのである。パンク以降のブリット・ロック、初期のシカゴ・ハウス、90年代中期のシアトル・アングラ・シーンに代表される耳をつんざくようなポスト・グランジ・サウンドすべてをベースにしている『Echoes』は、大きく3つのパートに分類できる。メスのように鋭いギターワークが聴ける「Heaven」「Echoes」、踊り出したくなるようなノリノリ・ダンスフロア・チューン「House of Jealous Lovers」「Sister Saviour」、そしてシンプルな「Perfect Day」風失恋ソング「Open Up Your Heart」「Love Is All」。もちろんこの『Echoes』でも、メンバー個人の見せ場はちゃんと用意されている。激しいダンスナンバー「Oilo」を聴けば、フロントマン、ルーク・ジェナーの伸びのあるハイトーン・シャウト（キュアーのロバート・スミスとニルバーナのカート・コバーンの中間とも言うべき熱狂シャウト）は、悲しみと怒りと幸福の間を永遠に彷徨っているかのようだ。とはいえアルバム全体は、心地良い雰囲気でノンストップで流れていく。まるで最高のミックス・テープのよう。確かなのは、ラプチャーは貧弱なサウンドから脱却しただけでなく、プライムル・スクリームの『Screamadelica』以来の画期的ダンス・ロック・クロスオーバーともいうべき作品を作り上げたということだ。(Louis Pattison, Amazon.co.uk)

やった、ついにRAPTUREのメジャーデビュー。『House Of Jealous Lovers』も『Olio』も入っている!!なんて喜んではみたものの、正直、１００％期待通りとは言えませんでした。
まず『House Of ~』や『Olio』のような以前から話題になっていた曲のアレンジが全く変わっていない。少しアルバム用に手を加えて欲しかったですね。

これらの曲を聞きたいと、必死になって音源を探していた人も多いはずです。確かにありがたい反面、その曲が入っているといっただけでアルバムを話題にするのは如何かと思います。

全体的には『パンクとダンスの融合』って空気が満ち溢れています。でもこの『パンクとダンスの融合』っていうフレーズ自体、言い尽くされたような感じがします。

RAPTUREは私が大好きなバンドであるからこそ、こんな一時の話題性だけで商業化され、飽きられ、廃れていく事は避けて欲しいです。

ただ、ピアノを基調にしたスローナンバー『I Need Your Love』やノイズと実験精神の『Infatuation』等、今後の展開に期待出来る懐に深さも見せ付けられた事も事実。もっともっと成長して欲しい。いや、成長できる。今後に期待大です。

ハイプで終って欲しくいないので、敢えて星３つで…。

神経を逆撫でするようなボーカルとギター、アグレッシブでダンサブルなドラムとベース、壊れたかのように鳴らされるサックス、チープな電子音等々が荒々しく衝突し合って大変なことになってる。

47分間ぶっ飛びっぱなし。いつ聴いてもまんまとテンション上げられちゃう。

2ndも確かに傑作だとは思うけど、THE RAPTUREのアルバムといえばやっぱりコレでしょ。

この作品が表舞台に出てきたことが凄いと思う。破錠寸前の危うい演奏、
ナイフで傷を付けるかのような声、神経を逆撫でするような不協和音で
絶妙なカッティングやリフを繰り出すギター、そしてディスコビート。
それを加速させる過剰なまでに太いベースライン。彼等の魅力を挙げれば

キリがないがそのほとんどがアンダーグラウンドでしか持てはやされなかった
ようなものばかりである。この音が時代を代表する名盤になりえそうな状況に
あるというのはかなり音楽史的に凄いことじゃないかと思う。
アルバムに限っていうとやっぱりHOUSE　OF　JEALOUS　LOVERSが必殺！！
この曲だけでも買う価値あるほどエネルギーに満ちている。

もちろん他の曲のテンションもやばく、スローな曲も熱とエネルギーに満ちている。傑作！
