 『99 Cents』は、チックス・オン・スピードことキキ・ムーアズ、メリッサ・ローガン、アレックス・マーレーにとって3作目のアルバムとなる。ズボンの似合うベルリンの3人娘が繰り広げる音楽は、相変わらずどこか皮肉っぽく、突き放した語り口でありながら生き生きと感覚に訴えてくる。絶叫パンクであると同時にロボットっぽい電子音楽でもあるという作風だ。生身の肉体を持つバンドであるにもかかわらず、彼女たちはしばしばみずからの肉声をデジタル技術に隷属させ、ブツ切りにしたり、反復させたり、脇へ押しやったりする。

   最初の3曲があまりに素晴らしく、まぶしい輝きを放っているため残りのトラックが割りを食ってしまっっているとはいえ、いずれも質の高い、しっかりとしたコンセプトを持つ楽曲だ。「Shooting from the Hip」は堅固なビートとユーモラスで遠慮のない歌詞が特徴で、ギターによる強力なパルスを中心に展開。屈託のない悪ノリ感がアクセントとなっている。「We Don't Play Guitars」は味も素っ気もない機械的な打撃音とすべてを破壊し尽くす勢いのベースで開幕。その後、ゲスト・スターのピーチズが、やけっぱちを地で行くような金切り声で応酬する。そして、トム・トム・クラブのクレイジーな名曲「Wordy Rappinghood」は胸が悪くなりそうなお下劣ヴァージョンとなって登場。作者であるティナ・ウェイマスも参加している。

   本作の三位一体というべきこの3曲にはさすがにかなわないが、「Coventry」や「Culture Vulture」といったナンバーでは彼女たちならではのフックが印象的だ。また、「Sell-Out」とタイトル・トラックは資本主義の問題点を鋭く突いている。（Martin Longley, Amazon.co.uk）

何年も前からNYで盛り上がり続けているエレクトロクラッシュですが、やっぱりチックスが一番です！ジェレミースコットのよるクールな衣装を身に着けて最高にかっこいいラップを聴かせてくれます！話題になったトムトムクラブのカバーも超踊れます。ピーチーズ参加の WE DONT PLAY GUITER の映像付き！マジ最高！

ギター弾きながら、peaches参加のM2:we dont play guitarとか言ってるバカな娘。　miss kittin参加のM10:shick shavingはややdarkに仕上げられていて意外と聞き所
