『Twentysomething』は驚くべきセカンド・アルバムだ。デビュー・アルバム『Pointless Nostalgic』で一躍名をはせた後、ジェイミー・カラムはヴァーヴ・レーベルと契約し、100万ポンドという破格の契約金を受け取った。何らかのプレッシャーは感じていたかもしれないが、さすがにカラムはそんな様子をこのレーベルからの最初のアルバムで見せたりはしていない。
学生ローンで制作された前作『Pointless Nostagic』に引き続き、本作はロンドンのメイフェア・スタジオで録音された。最近ではレディオヘッドやオアシスがレコーディングを行ったスタジオである。プロデューサーはスチュアート・レヴァイン（シンプリー・レッド、B.B.キング、マスターズ・アット・ワーク、ジョージ・ベンソンを担当）。「What a Difference a Day Made」、「Singing in the Rain」、「I Get a Kick Out of You」といったジャズのスタンダードやポピュラー・クラシックの数々をカラムが温かみのある独特の声で歌い上げるという、前作と同様の趣向だ。
さらに、よりコンテンポラリーな曲も用意されている。中でも注目したいのは、ジェフ・バックリィの「Lover, You Should Have Come Over」、ジミ・ヘンドリックスの「Wind Cries Mary」、そしてカラムがみずから書き下ろした楽曲（兄ベンとの共作）――たとえば、ゆったりと揺られるような「All at Sea」やヴァン・モリソン風のタイトル・トラックだ。
