When the Runaways debuted in 1976 with this self-titled LP, aggressive female rockers were the exception instead of the rule. 当時は女性バンドなんて存在していませんでした。強いて言うならば、スージー・クアトロやジャニス・ジョップリン等数少ないロックアーティストでしたが、楽器を扱えるロッカーはクアトロだけ．．．だと思いました。このランナウェイズが登場したのは本当に驚きました！ましては、女性バンドそしてハードロックグループには今でも新鮮に当時の頃を思い出します、リード・ボーカルのシェリーが下着姿で歌う「チェリー・ボム」は名演奏名曲でしょう。
内容曲は下記のとおりです。

　年甲斐も無く買ってしまった。リアルタイムで聴きましたから３０年かぁ・・。当時小生大学２年生、田舎から東京に出てきて悶々とした日々をおくっていたいたときにTVで観た初来日の彼女達。下着姿で歌うｼｪﾘｰ･ｶｰﾘｰの格好良さといったらもう！。外国の若い娘さんは流石に進んでいるなぁなんて感心したりもしましたけれど・・。

　懐かしくて１曲目のﾁｪﾘｰ･ﾎﾞﾝﾌﾞだけ聴ければいいやと思って購入しましたが、なかなかどうして４曲目までは結構聴ける。後半は少々だれるし、デビュー前のデモテープが使用されている曲は録音が悪くて、リマスターされていても不満が残った。でも意外に気に入ったので、ｾｶﾝﾄﾞ、Live in Japanも買うと思います。１６歳でここまでやれれば十分ですよ。親爺にはたまりませんね。最近のｼｪﾘｰ･ｶｰﾘｰの活躍もﾈｯﾄで観ましたが、ふくよかになってお色気充分でした。ドラマーが癌で亡くなったこともあったのでしょうけれど、最近Runawaysは再評価されてきてますね。合掌。

日本盤のタイトル＿「悩殺爆弾」にあるように，発売当時は，下着姿のステージ衣装のみがクローズアップされた
ガールズ・ロック・バンド＿ランナウェイズのデビュー・アルバム。

今あらためて聴いてみると，若々しくエネルギッシュで，かつキャッチーなメロディ満載で，早すぎたデビューが惜しまれるバンドでした。

８０年代になってからは，ランナウェイズの活動で養ったモノが開花して，
自らバンドを結成して全米ナンバーワン・ヒットを放ったジョーン・ジェット，
ソロでヒットを飛ばしたリタ・フォード（オジー・オズボーンとのコラボもありました！），
バングルスを結成して，大ヒットを連発したマイケル・スティールなど
ミュージックシーンを華々しく彩る活躍をしたことは，特筆に価します。

チャート成績は，全米（ビルボード誌）では最高位１９４位。日本(オリコン誌ＴＯＰ１００)では
７６年１０月２５日に日本フォノグラムより発売され，最高位は７位！＿でした。
