ベスト版として「アブソリュート・クラシック・マスターピース」が出ていますが、フェルトにはその２枚組ベストに収録されていない「Rain Of Crystal Spires」という名曲がある。このアルバムにはその名曲が収録されている。切なげでポップで微かに光があたっているような感じの素敵な曲だが、本人たちはそのポップさが後に趣味に会わなかったのかな。。でも、私はこの名曲を絶対皆に聞いて欲しい。

個人的に「どうしようもない」アルバムであります。フランクとは逆説的な意味で、重要な意味を持つ作品です。といっても反面教師的意味合いとかではなくて、人間発見の意味でですが。「すべからく人間は一生孤独で、ひとりなのだ。誰も信用するな。ただしうわべの部分を。そう、僕が愛したのは死人だけさ。」こんな事言えますか？普通。そう、このひねくれたローレンスという詩人は、いつだって逆説的な意味の事柄を詩的に歌う。しかしその裏に隠れてはいるが確実に存在する慈愛を読み取った（聴き取った）人間だけが理解できる、それこそが彼という人間の愛なのだ、と言う事に気づく。要するに素直じゃないんですよ、この人は。そう知った時、このバンドが何故心に存在し続けるのかにはじめて気付く、と。すんません。極私的なＦＥＬＴ論を語っちゃいましたが、こんなの紹介じゃなかったですよね。えーと、今作は８６年にリリースされた彼らの６枚目のアルバムで、ＣＲＥＡＴＩＯＮ移籍後２枚目のアルバムです。ヴォーカリスト、ローレンス（現ＤＥＮＩＭ）の人間の心の闇を見据えた歌詞と話すような歌いまわしの中に感じ取れる、冷めた視線と優しさを共有するクールなヴォーカル、キーボーディストとして、マーティン・ダフィ（現PRIMAL　SCREAM）を加えて４人組となった彼らのメランコリックで透明感のあるサウンドが見事に結晶した作品です。しかし決して媚びる事無く、マイペースを貫き通した彼らが残した中でも特に重要な足跡でありました。
