これは凄い。
今、ワンホーンでここまで勝負できるサックス吹きがいるでしょうか？

いつものことながら、名曲ぞろい。
とくに、Adam's Apple, El Gaucho, Footprintsには、
シビレマス。

ブルーノート初期３作の太鼓は
あくが強い（しかもコルトレーン臭がどうしても・・・）
エルビン・ジョーンズでしたが、
前作からすっきりモダンなジョー・チェンバースに。
本作では、これがある意味成功した感じもします。

ブルーノートのショーターはどれもいいですが、
私はこれが一番好き。

　前作でもっともフリーに接近したと言われるショーターが次に挑戦したのは何とジャズ・ロック。Ｗ・ショーターの最初のピークは64年〜66年のブルーノート作品群だと思うが、その中でも異色なアルバムとして異彩を放つ本作品。でもそれがまたカッコイイしクールでソウルフルであり、名曲「footprints」等曲の良さが飛び抜けて良いアルバムになっている。Jazzは曲より演奏との格言もあるが、ショーターを聴くと曲があっての演奏とも思えるくらい独自の世界を醸しだしている。ちと畑違い的な曲想でも自分のフィールドで勝負できるんだよねえ。やっぱ天才だわ！

演奏、サウンド、描き出してる世界どれをとっても卓越したセンスを感じる完璧なアルバム。
購入したすぐはしばらくの間ハマってました。
しかしここんとこ最近はパタッと聞かなくなったちゃった、何故だろう・・・。
