古楽全盛の昨今、カラヤン流の大規模オーケストラははやらないようですが、モーツァルトに貴族的な華麗さ、優美をさ求めたい人なら絶対買いでしょう。輝くようなベルリン・フィルの音色とスマートなカラヤンの解釈は全曲通じて徹底しています。特に自分は、４０番のモルト・アレグロはカラヤンの華麗に疾駆するような演奏が好きです（ヨーロッパの城のそばとか森の中を駆けていくようなイメージ）。ただしオーケストラの厚みはタップリで、金粉を散らした高級スイーツのような甘ったるさもあります。私はその時の気分によって他の演奏と聞き分けていますよ。

不思議なことに、モーツァルトと同じ土地に生まれ、
同じようにピアノの神童ともてはやされたカラヤンなんだけど、
モーツァルトの器楽演奏で感動的なのがあまりない。
カラヤンってむしろオペラ指揮者としてはすごいなって
思うけど、、、どうも録音として残した音から、
感動が伝わりにくい。（カラヤン自身はすごく情熱もって
レコーディングに取り組んでいたのに皮肉なものだ！！）
特に絶頂期にあった70年代の演奏って良くも悪くも、
「カラヤンの音」というイメージが強くてモーツァルトだろうが、
チャイコフスキーだろうが、、、出てくる音はやはり「カラヤンの
レガート」な演奏って感じなんだな。

で、カラヤンの残したモーツァルトの交響曲では
59年か60年にウィーン・フィルを振った第40番と
60年代半ばにベルリン・フィルを振った第29番、
ほんとにこれくらいしか印象に残らない。残念！！！
