軽やかにころがるピアノとウィスパリング・ヴォイス。流水のごときコーラスと随所にあらわれるファルセット。ケイト・ブッシュとか思い出しますね。ひんやりさわやかなこうした曲調と声、中華圏では案外人気が高くて、初期のフェイ・ウォンや台湾のターシー・スーなども十八番にしていた。KOKIAが中華圏で人気があり、サミー・チェンにカヴァーされてヒットを飛ばしたりCMに起用されているというのも納得できる。この新曲もクオリティの高い仕上がりだが、日本語の歌詞のみやや凡庸。ここをクリアすれば日本でもさらに注目されると思う。 (大須賀猛) --- 2003年10月号

ＣＭソングで使われているのが
この「the　power　of　smile」。「新しい力を下さい」と言うCMのフレーズと同じ歌詞で、覚えやすくPOPな明るい曲。
CMの映像を見て、そのイメージで書き下ろしたとか。
c/wは、2002年頃から、ライブで必ず歌われてきたバラード、「Remember　the　kiss」。平和を強く思う1曲で、歌詞の中にある

「言葉や文化、肌の色が、信じるものが違っても　赤ん坊の泣き声は　世界中同じなのに・・・」と言うメッセージが印象に残ります。
いつもライブの後半で必ず歌われてきた、名曲がついにCD化されます。

「The Power of Smile」
聴けば聴くほど、笑顔と元気が増量していきます！
シャンプーのCMのために書いたということもあるけど、
ライブで皆でのって楽しめる曲がないかな~と思って書いた曲だそうで、
実際、ライブで聴くと、さらにハッピーな気分になれます。
笑顔の力を思い出させてくれる最高の一曲です。

「Remember the kiss」

KOKIAさんが、ライブで必ず歌っているという大切な曲。
アメリカでのテロをきっかけに、
アーティストとして自分にできることはないかと思って作ったという曲で、
僕は、もともと、アーティスト＝ラブ＆ピースみたいなのは、
あまり好きじゃなかったんですが、
初めてライブで聴いたとき、思わず目頭が熱くなってしまいました。

収録されているバージョンは、ライブとはちょっと違って、
ピアノ伴奏をバックに、しっとりと歌いあげています。

僕はほかの歌手のファンなのですがファンといってもその曲がよく感じられなければファンだとしても僕は買いません。
しかしこの[The Power of Smile]はＣＭで知ったんですが本当にいい曲だと思います。天気のいい日の散歩のときに聞くなどしてもいい気分になれると思います。朝起きた時に聞いても「今日はがんばるぞ~」という気になりました。
カップリングのRemember the kiss のほうも凄い曲だと思いました。
初めて聞いたとき歌詞の一言一言が頭に響いてきました。いま世界ではいろんな国が争いを行っています。この曲はまさにそのようなことを指摘しているように思えます。いろんな人に聞いてもらっていろいろと考えてもらいたいと思います。
価格も苦になるほど高くはないので買って絶対に損はないと思います。
