小柳ゆきの過去４枚のアルバムはどれも名盤だったと思います
最近のシンガーで自分で作曲できないのに、もらった曲に
自分で作詞して、これだけのすばらしいアルバムを
発表できるのは小柳ゆきか、中島美可くらいだと思います
最近はCDの売り上げの減りがあり、アルバム制作費など
心配だったのですが、今回のアルバムは、ちょっとシングルの

収録数もすくなく控えめな印象もあるんですが、
小柳ゆきを象徴するようなアップテンポマイウェイソング
CrossColorsや（なぜこれをシングルA面にしなかったのか；；）
いままでよりもずとクールな感じのmovingout、
これもいままでにない静けさのバラード溝や、名曲lovingyou
手のとどかない片思いの恋人をスーパースターに比喩して

追いかけていこうとするSuperstarや、控えめな所が新鮮な
名バラードStart、そしてラストにはうまいとしかいいようのない
愛はかげろうのようにのカバー（panasonicのTVCMの曲）
を聞かせてくれます。
過去の４枚と同じく聞きどころ満載のアルバムです
私は小柳ゆきの（彼女の書く歌詞も）夢を追い求めて、
運命を切り開こうとするようなアツイ歌が大好きです

11曲目の　　『a start』　が素晴らしい。
「そう、心変わりせめても･･」の頭からキックドラムが重なり声に想いが乗ってゆく。
声の張りと引きが絶妙でこれまでに無かった歌唱法。

6曲目の　『溝』　も静かで悲しげな歌いだし。声を張るところよりささやくように歌う所が音量レベル高いのは悲しい。

3曲目　『Just free』　はビートの効いた低音で心地よい。ささやくようで艶っぽく歌うのも今までに無い歌い方。

12曲目　『Lovin’ you(Jazzy version)』　はライブハウス風。
ジャズ調の新鮮さは意外。今後も、外国のカバーよりこのような小柳カバーを高音質で挑戦して欲しい。

オリジナルアルバム「Type」は今までのアルバムに比べてアッパーな曲が多い。全体的に歌い方がソフトになり、一時期の声を張り上げて歌う印象がなくなった。そのためかアッパーな曲調でも優しい印象を受ける。これからの指針を探すべく色々なタイプの曲に挑戦したとのことで「Type」というタイトルを付けたらしい。個人的にはジャッキグラハムを彷彿させる「Just free」やオリータアダムス風な「溝」が好き。ボーナストラックとしてCMソングになっているシャリーンの「愛はかげろうのように」も入っている。全13曲の優しいゆきちゃんを発見できるアルバムに仕上がっていると思う。
