長い間コステロ本人の評価が低かったアルバム。以前リィシューされた時も肝心のボーナストラックが少なめだったが、今回は違います！収録曲の別テイクや、自身の弾き語り（と思われる）によるデモテイク、ライヴ等、なんと計26曲にも及ぶボーナスディスク付！「Let Them All Talk」のデモや、ライヴならではの「Back Stabbers(

オージェイズのクラシックヒッツ）」から「King Horse」へのメドレー等、聴き所満載！リマスターによりホーンの音圧も迫力あり。欲を言えば名曲「Shipbuilding」のデモが聴きたかったが、とにかくボーナスディスクだけでも（笑）聴く価値あり！決定盤と言えるでしょう。

エルビスコステロは現在も優れたソングライターですが、８０年代の頃のとてもポップで多彩なメロディラインが最も顕著に表れているのが本作「パンチ・ザ・クロック」だと思います。

ニック・ホーンビィの小説「ハイ・フィデリティ」の中で音楽オタクの主人公がエルビスコステロのベストファイブの１曲と挙げていたのが、ボーナスディスク＜１＞の「エブリデイ・アイ・ライト・ザ・ブック」のマージービートバージョンです。この曲はずっとＣＤに収録されるのを待ち望んでいましたが、ようやくの登場です。

ボーナスディスクにはオリジナルディスクの各曲のデモ版とか、「ゲットハッピー」収録曲の何曲かのライブ演奏などが収められており、原曲と比較してのアレンジの違いなどがかなり楽しめると思いま??。

だいたいがランガー＆ウィンスタンレーによるオーバープロデュースな作品。マッドネスなどで素晴らしい仕事を残した人たちだけど、コステロとのコラボは失敗とはいえないまでも、それほどプラスには働かなかったよう。
　とはいえ楽曲の良さでは数多いコステロの作品中でも指折り。それを証明するのが、ボーナストラックのデモバージョン。同時代的にこのアルバムを聴いて違和感を感じていた人も、これらを聞けば納得できるのでは…
