その昔私の住んでいるところでは、デュランデュランが好きだなんていうとものすごくバカにされたものでした。それが今ではどうでしょう。「ジョンのベースが・・」「アンディのギターが・・」とか巷で結構評価されるようになりました。良い時代になったものです。それにしても今聴いてもすごく新鮮です。ポップできらびやかなサウンドとダンサンブルで斬新な楽曲たち。特に「リフレックス」は最高。初めて聴いた時の衝撃といったらもう・・。今聴いても十分斬新でかっこいいです。そしてなんといっても素晴らしいのがジョンテイラーのＲ＆Ｂを基調としたベースプレイ、特にドラムとのコンビネーションから生み出されるリズムが非常に心地よいです。最小限の音でバスドラとのユニゾン決めまくりのパターンレイは渋いの一言に尽きます。なかなかハイレヴェルなバンド演奏が堪能できるとても味わい深い作品ですので、まだ聴いたことがないという方は是非聴いてみてください。
