ジャズとの幸せな出会いというものは、最初に何を聴くかで相当違ってきます。それはクラシックでも同様でしょう。
難解な曲を最初に聴くと、とたんに興味がなくなるのは世の常です。
誰が聴いても「素晴らしい」という曲には実はなかなか出会えませんねえ。
ジャズってどこかとっつきにくい印象があるのでしょうか。素晴らしい音楽が沢山あるのに、何から聴いたらよいか分からない、という方にこのＣＤをオススメします。

大好きなL．A．４の「亡き王女のためのハヴァーヌ」の軽やかな演奏は、モーリス・ラヴェルのピアノ曲（オーケストラ編曲の方が有名ですが）をボサノヴァタッチのジャズにアレンジしてあり、今聴いても名演だと思います。

「ワルツ・フォー・デビー」のビル・エブァンスは、内省的になりすぎず、ここでは所謂「ノッタ」演奏を聴かせてくれます。
また抒情的なメロディーが随所に見られ、難解さとは縁遠いものになっています。ベースのスコット・ラファロもとても雄弁で、絶妙のプレイとは、こういうものでしょうか。ジャズってこんなに良かったのか、という感想を頂ける曲ですね。

鈴木重子のハスキーヴォイスの「虹の彼方に」を聴いていると、夢の世界へ誘ってくれます。本当にリラックスできる曲が沢山収録されていますので、是非一度お聴きください。

一曲、一曲の出来がどうこうと言うより、センスのよい選択だ。コンピレ盤の出来は選者のセンスが左右する。ビル・エヴァンス、ポール・デスモンド、チェット・ベイカーのような古い「定番」から深津純子、鈴木重子、小野リサなどの現役日本女性勢まで、どちらかと言うと女性好みの美曲、哀愁あふれる曲が集められている。タイトルの「リラクシン・ジャズ」そのもので、聴いているとリラックスできる。（松本敏之）
