昔、英テレビの『シャーロック・ホームズ』シリーズを好んで観ていたので、あのイメージがまだ残っていますが、この作品のホームズとワトソンはまだ30代半ばで若々しいのが特徴です。
リチャード・ロクスバーグ演じるホームズ、今までよりもちょっと冷酷な感じがしますが、それも若さゆえってことでしょうか（笑）。
ワトソン君は、最初イアン・ハートが出てきたときは「これがDr.ワトソン？！」と驚きましたが･･･あの正義感と優しさは若いところから健在だったのですね、と･･･なかなかハマっていました。
ワトソン君のほうが見せ場が多かったので、イアン・ファンとしてはかなりおいしいです。

脚本と演出がいい!　プロットに至っては正典より…ごほごほ(笑)。話の筋にツッコミどころがあまりみつかりません。正典に忠実、とはいえないのですが、違うプロセスや結果は新鮮味があってよかったです。
リチャード・ロクスバーグ演じるホームズは、JBのホームズに慣れている人でも、それほど違和感なく納得できると思います。ちょっと背丈が足りないかな、と感じるくらいで、冷徹だけどチャーミングなところは健在です。あれこれ言うことが思いつかないくらい、しっくり役にはまっていました。
イアン・ハート演じるワトソンは、丸くないのでちょっと意外(笑)。ロンドンのシャーロック・ホームズ博物館にある蝋人形ワトソンくらいの衝撃です。話の中で楽しめたので、物語が進むにつれて気にならなくなりました。ひとりでいる時は、観察力・判断力等がホームズ並にすごいのですが、ホームズがいると怒ることが多く、そのやりとりも面白いです。文句を言う割に、ホームズのいない所で彼の自慢話をしているところがワトソンらしい。ワトソンの見せ場も多いです。
ホームズとワトソンの特徴をよく描きわけられていると思います。
犬が、いままで見たどの映像より迫力があって、一番怖かったです。CGと組み合わせて撮影されたんでしょうか？　よかったです。
