   今やキーボードよりも自転車レースに夢中とうわさされるクラフトワーク。そんな彼らであるからして、この『Tour De France Soundtracks』が12年ぶりのアルバムとなったのは驚くに当たらないことかもしれない。驚異的なアルバムだった『Autobahn』、『Trans-Europe Express』、1983年の記念碑的なシングル「Tour De France」で展開された運動・人間・機械というテーマを受け継ぐ作品である。ジャケットを見れば分かるとおり、基本的には「Tour De France」のロング・ヴァージョンといえそうだ。

   ハウス、トランス、テクノの祖といっていい存在であるクラフトワークが、本作では逆にそれらの分野の手法を借用しているが、これでこそフェアーというものだろう。タイトル・トラックの3つのヴァージョンが切れ目なく続くオープニングは、15分間にわたる静かなミニマリスト風トランスの傑作だ。その前にプロローグが置かれ、メトロノームのようなリズムに乗って繰り広げられる多彩なサウンドスケープからいつの間にか本編に突入するという趣向である。滑らかなキーボード・ラインが「運動」を感じさせ、メロディーは揺らぎ、渦巻く。「Elektro Kardiogramm」では、心拍や呼吸の効果音までもが導入される。アルバムの頂点といえる「Vitamin」は、ディープなグルーヴやめまいを誘いそうなシンセ・フックをもっており、ピレネー山脈中のコースにたとえることもできそうだ。革新者たちが持ち前の先鋭性を和らげた『Tour De France Soundtracks』は、クラフトワークの初期作品のように影響力絶大ではないかもしれないが、輝かしい復帰作であることは間違いない。（Christopher Barrett, Amazon.co.uk）

~中学生だったときに中野サンプラザのコンサートにいったとき、クラフトワークは、初来日で、いいようがない感動したことを記憶しています。
そのクラフトワークのニューアルバムが「エレクトリック・カフェ」以来17年ぶりにリリースされました。最近、どうせ活動していないだろうと思っていて情報する知らなかったのですが、知人から知らされ早速購入。
~~
いい意味で、前と変わらず、しかしとても洗練されていて、「アウトバーン」を初めて聞いた時の気持ちを思い出させてくれました。
車に積んでドライブの時に聞きたい1枚になりました。~

Kraftwerk、テクノポップに興味がある人は真っ先に聴くべきアルバムでしょう。
まるでライブに行ったかのような、疾走感のあるメロディ。
Etape 1を聴きながら、自転車で坂を下るようなことがあれば、
興奮のあまりにブレーキを踏むことも忘れてしまうかもしれません。

多くのスポーツにおいて人間は機械に近づこうとする。「ツール・ド・フランス」はそんな状況を見事に活写した作品だ。曲調は過去の作品「コンピューター・ワールド」あたりと似通うように思うものの、山あり谷ありのロングランを行うツール・ド・フランスの情景を俯瞰するかのごとき感覚を呼び起こす音楽描写の冴えはさすがクラフトワークである。この目はマクロだけに留まらない。#6「ヴィタミン」では、ミクロの目で人体の中で起こる化学反応すら描きだそうとする執念にも頭が下がる。全体を一貫したコンセプトが裏打ちした出来栄えは傑作「アウトバーン」の長時間トラックを聞くのに似た感動をもたらしてくれることだろう。
