   映画『デアデビル』のサウンドトラック盤は、それまで無名だったアーカンソー州リトル・ロック出身のこの4人組にとって格好の起爆剤となった。エヴァネッセンスの手がけた曲、「My Immortal」と印象的な「Bring Me to Life」は、映画の中でも明らかに際立っていた。物語の基調となる劇的で不気味な雰囲気をうまくとらえていたのが勝因だろう。そのエヴァネッセンスが、今度はデビュー・アルバムで再登場。やはり沈んだトーンのトラックが多く、トーリ・エイモスやクランベリーズといったメランコリックなアーティストたちを引き合いに出したくなる。ヴォーカルのエイミー・リーは、何週間も眠れなくなりそうな声を聴かせるが、「Tourniquet」や「Haunted」のような曲では違和感がある。これらの曲は、不吉なムードと同じぐらい強い精神性を持っており、嵐の中にいくばくかの光を投げかける思慮深さを感じさせるからだ。（Aidin Vaziri, Amazon.com）

1曲1曲はいいのですが、全体を通して聞くと暗くて同じような感じに思います。
私はGoing Underからの3曲がお気に入りなので、前半3曲でお腹いっぱいです。

初め聞いたときは、ボーカルのエイミーの声が澄んでいて、この音楽とミスマッチじゃないのか？と思ったんですが、
何度も聞いているうちにサウンドにも声にも、だんだんはまってきてしまいました。

ただ歌詞も音楽も暗めなので(特に歌詞は)、落ち込んでるからCDでも聴いて元気になりたいなーとかいう場合にはおすすめし難いですけど、
私はどっぷりハマりたいのですごく気に入っています。

ﾌﾞﾘﾝｸﾞ･ﾐｰ･ﾄｩｰ･ﾗｲﾌのビデオが入っているし、内容も結構好きです。

エイミーの声質が最高。
力強く、素直で伸びがいい。
1曲目や、デアデビルの曲である2曲目が最高です。
歌詞の世界がものすごく暗い。
エグイ感じもするところがある。出血がどうとか。
歌詞はほとんどエイミーが書いているようだが、
彼女はこんなにも暗く、辛いことが多かったのだろうか、若いのに。
心配になってしまう。辛くて死にそうで、叫んでる、助けを待ってる、って感じだ。
いや、助けが間に合わず落ちて行ってしまっている。
プロモーションでもビルから落ちてるし・・。
でも辛くて叫ぶ歌の中に、ものすごいパワーがある。
力強い歌声がたまらない。辛い時期を乗り切るとき聴くと良いのかも。
この悲しみの力強い歌声が大好きです。ドラマチックな曲も良いし、はまった・・！
でもポジティブな気持ちのときにあまりこの曲に同調しない方が
いいかもしれない。最近聴いてない。元気だから。

　ハードロックとしてはパンチが無いし、ロック好きの私にはグッとこなかったが、ソフトになった分、ポップスやＪ−ＰＯＰファンにも薦められる間口の広さが有る。洋楽入門に最適なポップメタルっていうところか。本格的なユーロ系ゴシックメタルを求めている人には物足りないと思うのでお薦めしません。
　ヴォーカルのエイミー・リーの声質は、ハードなロックチューンよりバラードの方が似合っている。
　宇多田ヒカル＋リンキン・パークなんて言われているが、確かに声はちょっと宇多田に似ているし、サウンドはリンキン・パークにそっくりだが、←の２組のミュージシャンには無いゴシック的な美しさが有ります。
