　まずこのCDのタイトル「ノマド・ソウル」という言葉は、このCDに楽曲を提供してくれたユーミンが楽曲の候補として出してくれた言葉だそうです。意味は、遊牧民や彷徨う人の魂。このCDにぴったりですね。

　そして、元ちとせさんがユーミンにお願いして書いてもらった「ウルガの丘」も収録と、元ちとせさんとユーミンのコラボーションが実現したCDでもあります。他にも話題曲収録。

　KDDIのCMソング「いつか風になる日」は、しっとりと歌い上げる沖縄テイストたっぷりの心和む曲。まろ茶のCMソングの「千の夜と千の昼」は、先ほど違った味付けで、元ちとせさんの迫力あるボーカルが題名通りに夜空にさまようのが目に浮かぶようです。僕が一番好きなのは、NHKの『まんてん』の主題歌になった「この街」。毎朝!流れて!耳に焼き付いてしまったのは、さすがNHK？。ドラマと歌が単にあっていたというものではなく、哀愁という言葉では言い表せない「自分の居所はいったいどこなんだろう」という迷いや生きていく意味をシンプルに歌い上げています。楽曲も素晴らしいですが、元ちとせさんが歌うからこそ心に響くのです。他にも元ちとせさんの音楽サポーターの山崎まさよしがプロデュースした新曲やなど、アレンジの上田現さんなど、今まで元さんの音楽性を認め支えてきた仲間もしっかりとサポートしています。
　他にもシングルに負けずと劣らない楽曲に元ちとせさんのボーカルと来れば、鬼に金棒？といった内容のCDです。これからいろいろな表現を見せる日本の秋に、いろいろな表情を歌で表現する元ちとせさんのCDはマストです。

いやはや，有名なシングル曲だけでなく，どの曲を聴いても唸らされる曲ばかり．捨て曲なしとはまさにこのことだと納得させられる．高音だけでなく中低音もしっかりと聞かせてくれます．陳腐でくだらない歌詞が全然ないのも好き．あの歌声にのって歌詞が心に染みてきます．歌がうまいというレベルをすっかり超えてしまっているアーティストがどういうものかよく分かりました．

個人的にデビューアルバムはシングル曲以外はこれと言って聴き所の無いイメージで、あまり聴き込んではいませんでした。しかしこのセカンドは、CM等でお馴染みの既発シングル曲はもちろんのこと、他の曲聴き手を飽きさせず自然と身体に入ってくる良曲ばかり。いつもはいちいちCDを入れ替えているカーステレオで、気がつけば繰り返し聴いていました。

ああ、あの奄美民謡の、なんて思っていると裏切られます。お勧めは音色七色とウルガの丘。前者はきらびやかな音とスピード感にびっくり。後者はレゲエです。
