「星に願いを」“When you wish upon a star” は、作曲Leigh Harline、作詞Ned Washingtonで、1940年2月に公開されたディズニー長編映画『ピノキオ』の主題歌で、その年のアカデミー最優秀曲賞を受賞しています。
「星に願いをかければきっとその願いはかなうはずさ」というのがテーマです。

1.ザ・ジャズ・ネットワークスはロイ・ハーグローブのフリューゲルホーンの甘い音が魅力的でした。
2.ケニー・ドリューのピアノ･トリオはとてもムードのある演奏です。
3.ハリー・アレンのテナー・サックスはこの曲のスタンダードとも言える温かい雰囲気を持っています。
4.フレディ・ハバードのトランペットはミュートをつけてのスウィング感のあるワルツが異色です。
5.ザ・トリニティの主旋律はピッコロ･ベースによる演奏でしたので他の演奏との違いが新鮮でした。
6.鈴木重子は好きな歌手ですので納得のいく歌唱です。
7.巨匠ソニー・ロリンズの自由なブローも個性あるものでした。
8.10年前に夭逝された大給桜子さんの意欲的なピアノも出色の演奏だと思いました。
9.サミー・ケイはＳＰ時代を彷彿とする演奏です。
10.フレディ・グリーンも懐かしい音に満ちていました。
11.グレン・ミラー楽団によるスウィング・ジャズも珍しい演奏だと感じました。
12.アーサー・フィードラー(指揮、 ボストン・ポップス管弦楽団は、定番とも言える演奏です。

収録されているのは、一曲一曲演奏者の個性が出ており、聴き比べをするのには最適のＣＤです。

名曲「星に願いを」を１２曲集めたオムニバス。グレン・ミラーやロリンズから現代のハリー・アレンまで。鈴木重子も入っている。歌あり、トリオあり、ホーンあり、オーケストラと、何でもあり。この曲の好きな人にはこたえられない。ただ、毎日聴くと飽きる。（あたりまえですが・・・）こんなアルバムはたまに取り出して聴くのがいい。そんな楽しみ方をしたい。企画の勝利である。（松本敏之）
