5年の歳月と1度のつくり直しを経て、シールの4作目のアルバムが発表される。オーディエンスとともに成長するシールの姿が確認できるだろう。ディスクの冒頭に置かれた「Get It Together」は、静かな「ナマの」演奏とホーン＆ストリングを駆使したディスコ・ナンバーを融合させたチューンで、以降のトラックの露払い役を果たしている。トラックの大半はデトロイト（およびフィラデルフィア）のR&Bシーンに同調したもの。イギリス生まれのシールはなかなか健闘している。かすれ声で感情のこもった、前向きなヴォーカルは、本作の目指すレトロなスタイルにうまくマッチしている。「Waiting for You」はダンス・フロアをわかせるだろうが、シールは本格的なバラードにも果敢に取り組んだ――そして、マーヴィン・ゲイも納得しそうな成果をあげたのだ。ファンク・チューンは本物の手ごたえを感じさせるものの、結局はポップの域に留まっている。一連のアップビートなトラックについては優秀なリミキサーの手を借りる必要がありそうだ。そうしなければ「Killer」と「Crazy」のような独創的なシングル曲のレベルに達することはできないだろう。
シールはいかなる場合も決して全力疾走しない。そんなクールさが、完ぺき主義者トレヴァー・ホーンのプロダクションとあいまって、本作をアダルト・コンテンポラリーの領域に押しこめてしまった（ただし、アダルト・コンテンポラリーとしては上出来）。「Let Me Roll」で、シールは本作に影響を与えたアーティストたちに敬意を表し、自分は「恩恵を拒むほどごう慢じゃない」と宣言している。この言葉が本当なら、本作の楽曲群はずっと素晴らしいものになっていただろう。（Beth Massa, Amazon.com）
