GAGLEのトラックメイカー、DJ MITSU THE BEATS の1stソロアルバム。
アルバム前半がヒップホップ、後半がブロークンビーツ、遅めの四つ打ち、
ソウル、ポエトリーリーディングなどという構成です。
ジャズを基調とした楽曲が大半ですが、凡百のクロスオーヴァーサウンドと違うのは、
本職であるヒップホップのトラックメイカーとしての土台がしっかりしているからだと思います。
どの曲にもそこで培われたビート感覚や一つのループに掛ける仕事の細かさが出ています。
もちろん、普段ヒップホップを聴かない人も、統一感や説得力を感じると思います。
全曲平均以上の出来ですが、中でもLittle Brotherがハイテンション
にラップする8、Mark De CLIVE-LOWEの白目を剥くほど気持ち良い
フェンダーローズが炸裂する12、Dweleのディープさが黒光りする14あたりは抜きん出ています。
必聴のアルバムと言っても良いでしょう。

ジャズをネタにしたヒップホップは女性に人気がある。
ヌジャベスとＦＵＮＫＹ　ＤＬとか。
確かに聴きやすいと思う。耳障りはいいし、何よりお洒落。
っていう感じでこのＣＤを聴くと痛い目にあう。
何じゃこりゃ？っていうのが入ってる。乱れ打つテクノみたいな。
才能溢れてんなーって感じ。海外からもリミックスの依頼が入るのも充分うなづける。

ただ、ベースはレベールの名の通りジャズをトラックに使ったヒップホップ。
またかっこいいんだこれが。

ジャズは大人の音楽だなんていう言い回しは、逆にそれを敬遠させている結果にはならないだろうか？手を伸ばしても届かない雰囲気になり、音楽を掘る時間が少ない人や、全くない人には縁のない音楽となってしまうだろう。自分もジャズには興味があったが、どこかしらそんな感情に包まれていた。しかし、そんなものを一時間ほどで払拭してしまうアルバムを見つけてしまったのだ。それがこれだ。

ジャズという音楽だけで気持ち良いのに、そこに屋台骨的存在のヒップホップビーツが絡まる。これが本当に気持ち良い！音楽的にも色々なジャンルにクロスオーバーしていたりとバラエティーに富んでいて、十分楽しめる作品だ。

気持ち良い~！とあなたは何回言うんだろうね(笑)
