この舞台である東京には、まだ都電も走り、他人を下宿させる下町風情も
色濃く残るという時代であり、そんな中、店子と大家が一つ屋根の下で、
ひとつの家族として何かを育くんでゆくという彼らの泣き笑いを描いた、
昭和47年のドラマである。

彼らの同居生活からは、他人とのプライバシーの不自由さは、

微塵も感じられない。むしろ、人々の心を寄せ合わせる有り難みと、
滑稽さと、楽しさと、生き甲斐が、常にそこにはあったように思える。
チーボーが嬉しい時や辛い時、画面の外に居るこちらの涙腺も何故か忙しい。
つい自分も童心に帰ってしまうからなのだろう。
是非、右京さんや井上精米店の人々の心の交歓に触れていただきたい。

また、あの頃の家族にに再会できるような、そしてま??最終回を見終われば、
もう彼らと再会できない寂しさを覚えてしまうような、
そんな優しいDVD_BOXである。

言うまでもなく昭和を代表するホームドラマ、シチュエーションコメディの傑作である。亡くなった姉の一粒種を預かった独身サラリーマンの奮闘を、佃に住む下宿先である米屋の人々との交流とともに温かく描いている。基本がコメディであるから高いリアリズムを期待するのは野暮というもの。しかし、７０年代を風靡した石立作品の中では「水もれ甲介」と共に、比較的リアリズムを重視した作品に出来上がっている。

松木ひろしの他に、向田邦子が脚本を担当していることが興味深く、それがまたこの作品の奥深さに貢献しているのかもしれない。「気になる嫁さん」や「雑居時代」の軽妙な会話のやりとりは少なく、またハチャメチャなスラップスティックの楽しさもないが、作りがしっかりとした石立劇場のペーソスを噛み締めながら味わって欲しい。

改めて見てみると、３０年前の日本にはこんな生活があったのかと驚かされる。

気楽な独身生活を送っていた右京だったが、突然の姉の死で身よりをなくした姪っ子、チー坊を引き取ることになる。
沢山ご飯が食べられるだろうってことで米屋に下宿。ここで右京とチー坊は、毎日、朝食、夕食を家族と一緒に食べるのだ。
これが当時のよくある光景だったのだろうか？
更に会社勤めで昼間にいないチー坊の幼稚園の送り迎えを米屋の家族が行っていたり、チー坊の育て方に言い合いになったり、食卓を一緒に囲んでいる間柄の中に恋心があったり。
なんとも見ていてあたたかい気持ちになってくる。

チャキチャキお節介でよくしゃべるお母さん、優しいけれど頼りにならないお父さん、気が強いけれど自分の気持ちをうまく表現できない長女、元気で明るい次女などなど、それぞれわかりやすいキャラクターで感情移入しやすい。

この時代を過ごしてみたかったなぁと思わされる作品だ。
