一五一会は、ＢＥＧＩＮが開発した指一本でもひける楽器。第一弾のセルフカバーに続く邦楽バージョンがこの第二弾です。テーマはもちろん「海」曲目を見ると一瞬「えー」と驚くというか、さすがBEGINというか、邦楽POPSオンパレードの想像を見事に裏切ってくれました。
1「海」や 7「椰子の実」は教科書などでも歌い継がれてきた唱歌。原曲の時代の雰囲気や曲調を大事に哀愁を漂わせてくれます。2 「お嫁においで」3 「想い出の渚」は日本のビーチサウンドともいうべき曲達。ここでもBIGENテイストと原曲の良さがほどよくミックスされています。
見せ場はまだまだ。5「およげ! たいやきくん」は、おなじみの日本最大ヒット曲。イントロはドライブ感あふれる一五一会の演奏からはじまり、これなんて曲？と思わせておきながら、ボーカルが入るとあのふんわりとしてオリジナルのよさをBIGENが見事に料理しています。6ではサザンの「ﾁｬｺの海岸物語」かなりゆったりしたテンポですが楽曲の良さは残しつつ、チャコの海岸物語~沖縄バージョン~とでも言えばもっともわかりやすいでしょうか？。正直最初は選曲にちょっと不安を覚えましたが、BEGINの海への思い、一五一会の魅力を伝える選曲という主旨が貫かれているなあと感じました。また、楽器やBEGINの魅力を伝えつつも、楽曲の持つ良さを大切にカバーしているのは、自分の曲を一曲一曲を大切に暖めてきたBEGINは人の曲にもそのような思いが持!てるやはり、音楽だけではなく心から温かいミュージシャンだと実感した一枚でした。

一五一会で演奏ができるように手引きがついていて、弾きながら歌ってみたくなります！
このアルバムの中で聞くべし！と思うのは、「チャコの海岸物語」の沖縄バージョン（三線+女性コーラス（お囃子））です。
「浜辺の~(サッサ）天使を~（イヤサッサ）見つ~け~たのさ~（ハイハイハイイヤサッサ！）」

聴きながら「さすがＢＥＧＩＮ！」と思わずカチャーシーを踊りたくなること間違いありません。

名城ビーチか新原ビーチか･･･しっかりウチナービーチ物語に仕上がってます。
