３０年ぶりに聞いたシカゴのセカンド。パワフルで荒削りなデビューアルバムも凄かったが、より洗練されたこのセカンドは本当に見事。余りにも手ごたえがありすぎる。パワフルさを残しつつも、スウィートなハーモニーがとっても素敵。この時代のロックが、既存の色々な音楽のﾌｨｰﾙﾄﾞに侵食していくさまが、手に取るようにわかる。あの時代の夢と幻滅、そこから立ち上がって何かを成し遂げようとする意欲がつめ込められている。シカゴはめちゃくちゃにうまいバンドではなっかたかもしれないが、メンバー全員が、プロデューサーのガルシオと一緒になって、力をあわせ打ち立てた金字塔だ。このあと息の長いグループとなったシカゴの最高傑作に間違いない。一枚目とともに一人でも多くの人に聞いて欲しい作品だ。

デビュー作"シカゴ・トランジット・オーソリティー"改め"シカゴ"と名乗った2作目にあたる本作です。LP時代には、ファースト同様の2枚組でした。
6や14などはきっと耳にしたことがあるはずです。息の長いグループですが当然メンバーチェンジも有り、もともとトランジットなんだからと言う訳でも無いでしょうが路線も随分変わりました。
　このアルバムは、活きの良いオリジナルメンバーの演奏が聴ける、価値ある一枚です。注目して欲しいのは、ドラムスのダニー・セラフィンです。現在のシカゴのように(レコーディングでは)打ち込みなどでは無く、彼の卓越したドラミングが一作目同様堪能できます。どうもいまいち評価されてない彼ですが、オーケストレーションを土台で支え、活かす為に計算さ~~れたこの言わばビッグバンドドラミングは、並大抵の技量ではありません。(クショッ! こんな逸材をクビにちやがってっ! )
当時のブラスロック創成期の覇気、情熱、挑戦、実験、あらゆるクリエイトスピリッツがここに込められています。今のシカゴとぜひ聴き比べてほしい一枚です。
