   ジェーンズ・アディクションは「オルタナティヴ」という言葉を不健全なイメージとともにアメリカ全土に定着させるのにひと役買ったが、彼らのてらいのない「ロック」は常に際立っていた。13年ぶりのスタジオ・アルバムとなる『Strays』には、一聴すればたちどころに分かるペリー・ファレルの特徴的なヴォーカル（鼻の詰まったガチョウが歌っているのか、妖精バンシーが宙を漂いながら泣きわめいているのか？）もあれば、デイヴ・ナヴァロの柔軟なギター・スタイルもある。だが、バンドは――かつての顔ぶれからただ1人、ベーシストのエリック・エイヴリーが抜け、代わりにクリス・チェイニーが参加しているが――1991年当時のような全力疾走を見せることはない。確かに、享楽主義とまじめさ、環境への配慮とデカダンス、といったバランスは保たれている。だが、今回の彼ら4人のアプローチは、新たな活動への肩ならしといった感じなのだ。リスナーが真っ先に注目するのは「True Nature」や「Hypersonic」といった派手なトラックだろうが、比較的静かなトラック（「俺はいつも間違ったことをやらかすが、それなりの理由はある」とファレルがいつもの理屈をこねる「Price I Pay」とか「To Match the Sun」）の中には、ジェーンズ・アディクションが生んだもっとも印象的なムード音楽といえそうなものもある。とりあえず、手当たり次第にトラックを詰めこんだ1997年のコンピレーション『Kettle Whistle』よりも『Strays』のほうがずっと納得のいく内容であることは間違いない。（Rickey Wright, Amazon.com）

最初の解散から、関連音源殆ど買ってると思うけど、
バンドのマジックってやっぱあるんだなぁと
しみじみ感じました。
各ソロ、デコンストラクション、レッチリ、ポルノ
マライヤ（笑）等も悪くなかったけど復帰作で吹っ飛びました。
出来るだけ”素直”に続けてほしいな。

13年ぶり（！）のアルバムに、胸踊らされて聴きました。Perryの独特なやんちゃなヴォーカルも相変わらずです。切れのあるグルーヴもDaveのギターサウンドもガンガン飛ばしています。全体的には結構まとまっている感じがして、デビュー当時からくらべるとインパクトが薄い印象ですが、彼らに影響されたバンドが多く出てきた今、やっと時代が彼らに追いついたのかも知れません。聴いていると「安定感のある高性能スポーツカーに乗っている」感じがします。聴き所は"Wrong girl""Hypersonic"ですが"Everybody's friend"のようなシンプルな曲もよいです。ロックファンやバンドをやっている人たちに大きな影響を与えるアルバムになるでしょう。

レッチリに加入して、デイヴ・ナヴァロを知り、ファンになりました。
脱退後のソロも、すごい私的な歌詞とハードで切れのいいリフ満載で、グッドな内容。
いよいよ再結成したこのアルバムは、僕には文句のつけようがない名盤です。
曲の良さ（特に1･2･3は一気にきかせます。ただ3がレッチリを連想はしますが）、
録音・ミックスの良さは、昨今のぱっとしないロックアルバムの中にあって、飛び抜けた出来です。
でも、猫（ソウル）も杓子（ロック）もラップしないと売れない今のアメリカでは、もうロラパルーザの看板だけでは売れないんですねえ。
チャートアクションも、確か２０~３０位止まりと鈍く、おまけに聞いた話ではまた別れちゃったとか・・・。
こんなにいいアルバムが認められないいまの音楽界は、オカシイな。
