郡上踊りのシーンではじまるこの映画は、江戸時代に実際に岐阜県で起きた農民一揆の模様を淡々と描き出して行く。
定次郎というまだ若い農民が、最愛の妻と子を置いて死を覚悟の訴訟に踏み切ったという事実の重みは、胸に迫ってくる。
父親役の加藤剛は、はまり役、妻役の岩崎ひろみが愛らしい。

また、地元の人を中心に一般人が協力したというエキストラの迫力は、大したものだ。
ただ、残念なことに、定次郎の内面の葛藤が今ひとつ伝わってこなかったような気がする。
いい素材だし、期待していただけに、ちょっと残念だった。

少しこの時代の事が知りたくて買ってみました。
エキストラも交えてよく作られてはいますが、残念な事に型通りに終わってしまったようにも思います。もっと百姓の汗のにおい、ぎらついた目、貧困にあえぐ姿、それらを映像として表現してほしかった。相対する藩の態度も、もっと手厳しく無慈悲なせりふまわしや演技を望みました。つまり百姓と役人の対比に徹底したコントラストをつければもっとこの作品はすごみを増したと思います。だって生きるか死ぬかの農民一揆ですから…。
時代は変われど人間の営みは昔も今も変わらない。お上と下人の関係は今もこうしてここにある。困窮し、どん底にあえぐ人々が消える事はない。それはなぜか。
その普遍性をテーマにもっと私たちに問いかけてほしかったですね。
あと時代に忠実にと考えたのかもしれませんが難しいせりふがたくさん出てきます。ここは少し機転を働かせてほしかった。意味は分からずとも、若い人たちに「そうかあ…」と、感覚的に受け止めてもらえるせりふ運びにしてほしかった。せっかくの題材ですから。

岐阜県あげて作った映画。
郡上一揆は、百姓が勝った。支配者の殿様をお家断絶にしたという。
幕府の諸藩取り締まりのモデルになったと思われる。
知事も、地元の人たちもエキストラとして出演。
作品としては全く面白くない退屈な映画である。
村おこし映画と呼ばれるであろう。
