ソニー、ビクター、BMGファンハウス、そしてコロムビアと、複数のレーベルにまたがって音源を集成した(1)、２枚組のコンピレーション(2)。デビュー以来、熱い支持を集め続ける彼女のキャリアの中でも、これは、それら２点において初のアルバム、ということだ。これまでCDになっていない音源の補完をも目的としているため、「これさえあれば、彼女の重要作がすべて聴ける」、というものとはちょっと違うのだが、あと２曲の追加でソニー時代のコンプリート・コレクションになれた（※洋楽カヴァーを除く）、98年発売の１枚ものベスト『GOLDEN J-POP/THE BEST』が非常に「惜しい」アルバムだったこともあって（同アルバムのレビューも参照）、今回はそのあたりの不満もかなり解消してくれる内容。なにしろおよそ四半世紀もの間、入手が困難なままだった２曲-「あやまち」、そしてフィリー調にアレンジされたカヴァー曲「ブルー・ライト・ヨコハマ」-が、やっと落ちついて聴けるのだ（チト大げさですが…）。他社音源も、未CD化、もしくは近年リイシューのなかった楽曲中心に集められている。全曲筒美氏のアレンジにより当時、アルバムに収められた洋楽カヴァー12曲の収録も目玉か（コロムビア６曲、ソニー６曲。コロムビアの全曲とソニーの２曲が初CD化）。何にしても、本当にうれしいリリースだ。

「筒美京平編曲による洋楽カヴァー12曲」というのに惹かれて買ったのだが、知らないオリジナル曲も結構あって、予想外の喜び。

『ビューティフル･ヨコハマ』、『真夏の出来事』、『フレンズ』、『恋のダウンタウン』はコロムビアのそれではなく、ソニー･バージョン。筒美京平自身のアレンジによる別バージョンがあるとは知らなかった。『マンダリン･パレス』も船山基紀アレンジの別バージョンだったりして、ちょっと得した感じの2枚組である。

楽曲解説を平山みき（今の芸名はこっち）自身が書いていて、『ビューティフル･ヨコハマ』の歌詞に出てくる男の「正体」を明かしたり、YMO以前の坂本龍一がレコーディングに参加したことがあるとか、そんなのも読んでいて楽しい。

三紀さんの歌声にはほんと癒されます。その歌声にはもちろん、一曲ごとに添えられた三紀さんのコメントがまた素敵で、誠実でチャーミングな彼女のパーソナリティが垣間見れて楽しいです。シンガーもコンポーザーもディレクターもプロデューサーもリスナーも。みんなが愛した平山三紀の輝く歌達がギュッと詰まった愛情盤です☆
