名作時代劇から抜粋した貴重な楽曲を収録（初CD化楽曲も含む）。曲間には、江戸屋まねき猫師匠（鳥、虫、犬、猫など、生き物の声担当）と宮田章司師匠（物売りの声担当）による「江戸情緒音」も収録。
※Disc-2はサラウンド補助CDです。背面にもCDプレイヤーを設置し同時再生すると、サラウンド効果をお楽しみいただけます。

　タイトルどおり、とんでもないｄｅｅｐな時代劇ばかりを採り上げた１枚（２枚？）。５曲目の『少女ひとり』は、『快刀乱麻』という1973年に放送された幻の時代劇のテーマ曲。
　なぜこれが幻か、というと、この番組は、最初期のカラービデオで撮影された時代劇だったために、フィルム撮影と違って、高価だったテープを使い回し、重ね撮りしてしまい、作品が残っていないから。したがって、もちろん、当時も、今も、再放送はありえない。
　ドラマ自体も非常にロジカルな構成で、明治創生期を舞台に、勝海舟らとともに主人公が推理を展開する、というもの。なにしろ原作が坂口安吾だ。おもしろくなかったはずがない。
　かいとうらんま、というだけのシンプルなナレーションに続いて流れたこの曲は、詩が佐々木勉、曲が都倉俊一。72年の『木枯らし紋次郎』の｢だれかが風の中で｣と並ぶ名曲。この一曲だけのためにでも、このＣＤは買う価値がある。

「ちょんまげ天国~ＴＶ時代劇音楽集~」とこちらをセットで購入しました。
セットで欲しかった曲が一通り聴けたので選曲的には満足でした。
二枚ともヘビロテしてます。

杉サマの「江戸の夜明け」「明日の詩」の代表的なエンディング曲が一緒に入っているのがオイシイなと思いました。弥次喜多隠密道中のテーマの「隠密大作戦」はメロディとテンポが良くて相変わらずカッコイイなぁと思います。
「ちょんまげ天国~ＴＶ時代劇音楽集~」と比べるとサラウンドが追加されていますが個人的にはあまり無くてもいいかなという気がします。
あとこれももっと個人的ですが大江戸捜査網のＴＶシーンは幻と呼ばれるシリーズが入っていましたが十文字小弥太シリーズだったら初期の井坂十蔵と小波が良かったな。
聞き応えはある一枚だと思います。

テレビ時代劇の音楽は力作が多いが、甚だ不遇な扱いを受けてきた。富田勲のおてんとさん（歌うは勝新太郎）など、日本情緒あふれる名曲だと思うが、余り評価されて居ないようである。このＣＤは、そういった不遇な名曲を世に出した点は評価できる。しかしながら・・・荒野の素浪人の音源が番組からの起こしと思われ、曲の興趣を損なうのはどうであろうか、殺陣の音が入るのもどうかと思われる。そういう点、いささか疑問が残る。そういうわけで、この評価となった。大江戸サラウンドは江戸屋まねき猫や宮田章司など斯界の名手を揃えており、聞き応えが有るので、非常に残念である。
