映画の大ヒットで、再び見直されたビデオ版「呪怨」＆「呪怨２」。
この商品は、映画から興味を持たれたファンの方々へ販売する目的で企画されたもの。
パッケージの内容は、ビデオオリジナル版をＤＶＤ化した「呪怨」と「呪怨２」を抱き合わせて
特典として１６Ｐリーフレットが付いている。

呪怨自体はすばらしい作品だと思うが、パッケージとして少々不満を感じるので書かせていただく。

まず第１に、今まで別売だった、１と２を単に抱き合わせしただけでは、芸がなさ過ぎる。
ビデオ版が発売された時は、２が発売されるまでに、時間があり、そのために内容を分かりやすくするため

１の最終話に少々シーンを付け足したものが、２の第１話として収められている。
したがって、再販にあたりこの１の最終話をけずり、２の第１話をつなぎとして、ＤＶＤ１枚に収めて
発売した方が、話の流れもスムーズになり、よかったのではないかと思う。
次に価格、普通抱き合わせ商品は、慣例的に多少のプライスダウンを行なうものだが

このＢＯＸでは、１と２を足した価格で、まったく減額されていない。
それにもかかわらず、特典といえば、ＢＯＸと１６Ｐのリーフレットだけというは、安直なような気がする。
以上、作品自体には５を挙げていいと今でも思うが、パッケージとしての手抜きで星３とさせていただく。

ビデオという媒体は、映画におけるフィルム媒体に比べ、
時としてリアルさ・被写体との距離感において
肉薄してくるものがあります。
この呪怨にもそれは当てはまり、悪い意味で劇場版の
横長のビスタサイズ画面は、それがフィクションである事を
暗黙の内に表してしまっている一方
このビデオ版の3:4の画面サイズとビデオ臭さは

そこで今何かが起きているというリアルさを視聴者に見せつけてきます。

　本編冒頭での『呪怨』の予防線、つまり、言い訳めいた定説は度し難い。佐伯家の敷居を越えなければ恐れるに足らず。ゴキブリホイホイのような話に恐怖を感じることは出来ない。ストーリーに整合性が欠落しているため苛立ちばかりを感じる。佐伯家に何があったのか掘り下げて描くべきだ！
