　ガレージとサザンロックの融合ーーなどともっともらしい売り出し文句が与えられているようだが、要するに技術も経験もない若造の「スワンプ熱愛宣言」と捉えればいい。

　今年４９才の上司に聞かせて「立ち位置がグランドファンクみたいでしょう」と尋ねてみたところ、「グランドファンクのほうが１００倍上手かった」と口で言いつつ嬉しそうに聞き続けていた。

　たぶん、今年のボナルーフェスティバルに参加したバンドの中では一番下手。スワンプ系には違いないが、泣きのギターも湧き出るようなブルースフレーズも弾けない。ヘタッピだから妙にパンクっぽく聞こえてしまうけれど、デビュー当時のトム・ペティ＆ハートブレイカーズもこんなだったはず。

　ロックへの前のめりな熱愛ぶりがあまりにも鮮烈なので、今後の成長が楽しみで仕方ない。今、デビュー作１枚で聞き手をそんな気持ちに誘うバンドは、彼らぐらいしかいないと思う。大物になりますぜ。

ラップやブラックミュージックが主流のミュージックシーン。
ロックはといえば自閉症気味のひねくれた音が人気というこの時代に突如現れた骨太直球の土臭ーいロックンロールサウンド。
ストロークスと比較されることもあるようだが、私の中ではまったく違うスピリットを持つバンドだと思う。
ストロークスのレイジーさ、脱力感とは全く異種の硬質のテンション！
技術うんぬんではなく、彼らの持つ熱い演奏、とても23歳とは思えないいぶし銀のボーカルにガツンとやられた。
若いのに一本筋の通った、昔かたぎのスタイルは若い人だけでなく、オールドロックファンにも訴えるものがあるだろう。
素直にかっこいいと思えるアルバムだった。
アーティストの意向により対訳はないのが、残念だがボーナストラックもかっこいいのでぜひ邦盤をおすすめしたい。

確かにレトロで土臭い。南部的な臭いも漂っている。
しかし、ライナーノーツでは、やたらとスキナードやオールマンズと比較しているが、そんなスケールは感じない。
何よりもボーカルが弱すぎる。比べてしまうと演奏もチープでB級バンドとしか思えない。

サザンロックを期待するなら、裏切られる作品。
ロックンロール・リバイバルなどと言って流行ってたガレージだ。
そのうえ、この作品以後は売れ線の楽曲にシフトしている。

本当に期待していただけに、がっかりした。
