演奏は勿論のこと、唱法から英語の発音までそっくりにコピーしているバンドなんかを聴いても「よく練習したね」という以上のものは感じられない。しかし、王様の音楽にはもっと確かな感動があるぞ、驚いたことに。

王様をまともに聴いたのは実は初めてだったのだが、一曲一曲「ぐっとくるなあ」「カッコイイなあ」とほとほと感心してまった。曲そのものの魅力がストレートに迫ってくるのだ。なるほどねえ…
オリジナルじゃないから「星４つ」にしたが、即位以来このやり方を貫いてきた王様自身には星５つ。

即位１０年の集大成、大いに楽しみました。ここまで徹底されれば、もう拍手喝采です。ファンならずとも、この一枚のみでいいから、王様を聴いてあげて欲しい。ベスト盤なので、殆どは既発表曲ですが、僕のオススメは、ラストのそうる透さん、六川正彦さん、和田春彦さんとの「ハイウェイ　スター」（高速道路の星）ライブ。ギターソロが、リッチーのキメフレーズコピーのみならず、さらにオイシイ発展を付けて頑張っています。応援しますよ、王様。

30年以上前、歌詞の意味も知らず聞いていました。

王様の直訳が、私により深い満足を与えてくれたのは
言うまでもありません。

このベスト版のチョイスは、私が選んだとしたらというのと、ほぼ一緒。
唯一残念なのは、ＧＦＲの「ふられた」を完全版で聞きたかったです。

もし、以前のものをあまり持っていないアナタ！！
王様に偏見をお持ちのアナタ（私の妻を含む）！！
歌詞の意味がわかってこんなに豊かな気持ちになれるなんて
ものは、試しです。
