73年に2枚のシングルを発表、そのセールスが振るわずアルバムを出せないで解散した、ブラジリアン・ポップス・グループの“NOVO”。歌謡曲が主流だった当時には彼らの本格志向は受け入れられなかったが、やっと30年の時を経て、アルバムが日の目を見た。シングルとして発売された4曲と未発表の8曲を収録。驚くのは、今聴いても“最近のアーティストの作品?”と思えるほどの楽曲センス。そして、軽快なリズムやさわやかなメロディ。orange pekoeらの今のシーンに当てはめても何ら違和感のない世界感を醸し出している。 (清水隆) --- 2003年08月号
