どの楽章も速さは平均並みで、特徴的な演奏とは言い難いのですが、解釈としてはプレヴィンに近くて説得力はあります。ただし、音量の大小差がボールトの次ぐらいに激しく、極端です。「火星」や「木星」ではじめ音量が小さいなと思って音量を上げていくと、最後に一気に盛り上がって打ちのめされます。かといってこの部分がうるさくならないように低い音量で聴いていると、「火星」や「木星」の迫力が全く伝わってきません。結果としてイヤホンでしか聴けません。「惑星」のＣＤを集めておられる方ならいざ知らず、最初の１枚にわざわざこれを選ぶ必要もないでしょう。音質は、１９９０年代に撮られただけあって良いのですが、打楽器などの小さい音がかき消されています。
