とにかく名盤である。1050円でこのような演奏が聴けるとはほんとうに夢のようである。

『新世界より』は店頭ではベルリンフィルやウィーンフィルのアルバムを多く見かけるが、やはりスラブのもの悲しさをかもしだせるのはチェコフィルである。チェコフィルの持つ華やかながら、どこかもの悲しい響きは、ドヴォルザークを演奏させると他のオーケストラの追随を許さない。

第１・３楽章の素朴なスラブ民族的な旋律を歌わせると、チェコフィルのオーボエ・フルート・クラリネットを初めとする木管パートの演奏はほれぼれするほど見事である。定評ある弦のすばらしさは言うまでもない。

第2楽章のイングリッシュホルンもやさしく懐かしく、金管の完璧なハーモニーとあいまって、心の底から幸せを感じさせてくれる。しかし私のイチオシはこの有名な『家路』の後に続く、ちょっと暗い部分である。暗いがしみじみ深みのある演奏である。ここを聴いていると「ドヴォルザークは人生の悲しさ・人の痛みを深く知っていた人なのだろうなあ・・・」としみじみ癒されるような気がする。数あるチェコフィルの『新世界より』の中でも、この部分の演奏はこのアルバムが絶品である。

第４楽章も、迫力があり聴き応えのある演奏である。とにかく各パートが信じられないほどうまい。思わず聴き入ってしまう演奏である。『新世界より』のファンの方は、ぜひ一度チェコフィルの幸せなハーモニーを味わってほしい。

四季といえばイ・ムジチ、シュトラウスといえばウィーン、そして新世界（ないしドボルザーク）ときたらノイマンのチェコフィル。ＬＰ時代からの定番ですが、考えたらＬＰより安いんですよね（笑）。いい時代になったものです。３０年以上前の東欧から届いた（１９７２年２月２日　プラハで収録）「定番」を是非お聞き下さい。

夏の旅先で夕焼けを眺めたときに思い出すような、いわゆる「家路」（＝この曲の第二楽章）のメロディ。あの木管の音はきっとこのチェコフィルの響きに違いありません。

　ドボルザークが思いを募らせた故郷チェコに向けて”新世界より”は作曲された。
　カラヤンのベルリンフィルが有名な、この曲だが私個人としてはチェコフィルが好きだ。
　好みが分かれるところだが私はコブシの利いた演歌調のカラヤンよりは淡々とはしているがドボルザークの思いがヒシヒシと伝わってくるチェコフィルがいい。
　どちらが原曲に近いかは素人の私には理解の及ばないところではあるが、まずはじめに、この曲を選ぶとしたらチェコフィルハーモニーをお奨めします。その後余裕があればカラヤンや小沢なんかも聞き比べるのも良いかも知れません。
　あっ！そうそう、私は決してカラヤンを過少評価はしてません。
　ベートーベンに関してはカラヤン中々の才能を発揮しているのはしっかり理解しているつもりです。
　ポルシェに乗ったカラヤンよりも、やたら故障するトラバントを修理しながら乗っているチェコフィル（可なりの偏見！）のほうが親近感を持てるという私見ですが。
