　これは、ミカ・バンドの最高傑作です。また、彼らの貴重なコンセプト・アルバムです。
　歴史的なシチュエーションとしては、幕末から文明開化に向けた日本です。その時代のイメージを大きく膨らませた加藤和彦のセンスのよさを感じます。
　「墨絵の国」では、ややスローテンポに始まるのですが、ややハイテンポになりながら、「タイムマシンにお願い」で急加速する、いわゆる時代の変わり方を象徴する創りとなっています。
　そして彼らが活躍していた時代・・。残念ながら当時の日本はすでにロックから、ニューミュージックへと流れが変わり始めていました。
　彼らのロックのこだわりは、一見マニアックな感じを受けていましたが、そこは加藤和彦の気質。フォークからロックへと流れていった彼は、その後ヨーロッパに渡り、今もロックの活動を続けている。
　このアルバムは、彼の才能を立証した一枚だと思います。

今となっては完全に仇になった「タイムマシンにお願い」のミカのボーカルはおいといて、インストルメンツ、Ｂ面の叙情性豊かな歌世界、破天荒なレコーディングと圧倒的な音壁にはつくづく驚くばかり。覚醒した幸宏のドラミングは圧巻です。

今回は待ちに待った24bitリマスター紙ジャケとなりましたが、このシリーズのＣＤレーベルのデザインの悪さには思わず愕然・・・。こういうとこ手を抜かれるとがっくしくる。ソノシートかと思いました。

正直、このアルバムが発売されて以来、日本のポップスっていうのは進化してないなぁ。。と思ってしまうのです。
様々な人が様々な形で大絶賛しているアルバムですから、日本人として死ぬまでに聴いておくべきアルバムです。
日本史（ロック版）があれば、間違いなく掲載されるアルバムです。
未来をさきどるというより、単にいつまでも聴ける音楽を作ろう、という意志のほうが強かったように思えます。
