内容紹介

オウム真理教（現アーレフ）の広報担当部長を主体とした、出家信者たちの姿をとらえたドキュメンタリー作品『A』撮影終了から2年半ののち、森達也が再び退去直前の足立区のオウム施設を訪れ、カメラをまわしたドキュメンタリー『A2』がDVD化。
信者たちがかかえている矛盾や、社会の側に生まれ始めた「受容の萌芽」を本作で描き出し、2002年山形国際ドキュメンタリー映画祭、市民賞と特別賞を受賞した。

オウム真理教（アーレフ）を追った傑作ﾄﾞｷｭﾒﾝﾀﾘ作品「Ａ」の続編。今回は中堅信者をとおして社会とのつながりを追っている。出家し、現世とのつながりを断ち、修行している信者とその現世で共同体を形成して生活している住民。そのつながりや断絶を丁寧に描きだしている。共同体との接点を見出した地区もあれば、住居にはいることも拒否し、滑稽なまでの対応をする共同体。異端から正常といわれる社会を見ることは必要なことである。なぜなら我々の生活や考えが客観的に見つめることが出来るからである。みんな同じ方向を向いている現在で違う方向を向いたとき、みんなが進んでいる方向がはっきりみえるであろう。その流れに混じらず、その方向を見つめるとおかしなこと、滑稽なことがたくさん起こる。そのたくさんのことをいろんな視点から森達也は我々に提示する。現代人必見の傑作ドキュメンタリー。

オウム道場近隣の関係者から批判もあるようだが、作品そのものの完成度の高さとジャーナリズム的な視点の鋭さにはなんら変わりはない。

この映画はオウムを擁護したいのではない。オウム信者とそうでない人たちとの関わり合いという事象を映画としてとったにすぎない。失礼を承知で申しあげれば、この映画を「オウムと結託してつくった」ととらえてしまった人は、常日頃からマスコミ報道を鵜呑みにしてしまいがちな人です。

この映画は単にそこにある事実を材料に映画を撮っただけにすぎない。その題材がオウムだっただけだ。
まさに良質のドキュメンタリーだ。

ドキュメンタリー映画として面白い。
オウムと対立していたはずの住民が、心の通い合いを見せたりする姿。
決められた思想・シナリオにのっとることなく、ありのままを淡々と記録するカメラ。
一定の方向に誘導しようとするマスコミへの批判精神。
面白くないわけがないのだが、最後まで見て、やはり、面白いだけでは済まないものを感じた。
これからオウムはどのように社会と折り合いを付けていくのだろう？我々自身にも突きつけられたいまだに継続する課題である。
