2003年夏に発売されたシングル。TVで1回聴いて大好きになってすぐにCDを買ったのを思い出します。
今回、ドラマ「Dr.コトー診療所」の主題歌として再On Airされるので、ランキング再登場は間違いないでしょう。
曲の方は、人間の弱さや脆さを嫌でも考えさせられる歌詞と、瀬尾一三さんによる壮大なArrange、中島みゆきさんの説得力抜群の歌唱…と、小学生からお年寄りの方まで本当に幅広い層に支持されそうな楽曲(実際支持されている)に仕上がっています。中島みゆきさんの曲では特に「時代」「誕生」「Maybe」などが好きですが、この曲も1番好きと言っても過言でないくらいです。この曲を「ありがち」とか「薄っぺらい」と批判する人はいないでしょう。それにしても、この人は本当に才能の枯渇というものがありませんね…やっぱり天才です。

確かみゆきさんが言ってたか何か知りませんがサイトに載っていたのは（多分言ってたのだと思う・・・）二つ意味があるそうです、ひとつは夕焼けが海に反射した・・・銀。。。という美しい風景の銀と、もうひとつは、金ではない・・・銀。金になれないまだ未熟で弱々しい、けども一生懸命な・・・銀、だそうですよ。この曲のキーワードは『非力』らしいです。

最初の静かな背理から最後の終わりまですばらしい曲です。
カップリング曲の恋文も・・・はまります。凄く切ない詞と、今までに無かったリズム感がよいです。シンガー／ソングライターで、詞も曲も歌声もなにも欠けてないみゆきさんはとてもすばらしいと思います。

ドラマの主題歌で有名になったが、この曲は歌詞にせよ曲調にせよほぼ完璧としか言いようがない。盛り上がりとなるサビに説得力を持たせるべく多重構造に仕立て上げられた楽曲は鳥肌物。自分の中に弱さや脆さを認めながらも、勇気を奮い立たせんとする本当の意味での強さがある。
