1983年にリリースされたバンドとしての初めてのアルバムです。当時はローレンス、モーリス、ニック、ゲイリーの４人組でした。プロデュースはジョン・Ａ・リバース。全編陰鬱なトーンで覆われた、悲しいほどに美しいサウンドを持ったアルバム。どちらかというとポピュラリティに乏しいといか、ほとんど自己満足の世界ですが、３コード・オンリーの繊細なラインのアコースティック・ギターと、ローレンスの呟くようなヴォーカルの響きが素晴らしい。荒削りでチープな初期段階サウンドではあるけれど、ほとんど彼らの基本形の様なものはできあがっているような感じかなあ。類い希なるフェルト・サウンドの原点として、心を広くして聴いてやってください。

FELTのデビュー作。当時は額面通り、「美の崩壊」という邦題でした。
独特の陰影にとんだサウンドは既に確立されている。ジャケットどおりの世界だ。

最初に聞こえてくるギターのストロークで気分をすっかり変えられてしまいます。

後につづくfeltの香りみたいなものはすでにこのアルバムででき上がっているのがわかります。どうしてこうも儚げなのでしょうか、そして私たちはどうしてもfeltが聴きたくなる時が突然訪れてしまいます。
忘れたころに思い出してしまうサウンドです
