フュージョン・ギターの歴史を築いてきたスーパー・ヒーローが、10年ぶりに原点回帰とも言うべき本格的なブルース・プロジェクトに挑戦。最近はフォープレイのみならず、ソロ作でもスムース・ジャズへの傾倒が顕著だったが、やはりこの人には苦みばしったブルースがよく似合う。10年前に参加したその筋のプロ三人を引き続き起用、さらにブラス・セクションを加えてアンサンブルを拡大することで、説得力が増した。ゴージャスで迫力のあるサウンドは、意外にもエンタテインメント性にあふれ、一般リスナーにも十分アピールする内容。全篇オリジナルにこだわることで、この人にしか作り出せないブルー・アイド・ブルースの美学を追求した。シグニチャー・ソング「ルーム335」のブルース版という演出も心憎い。アーシーでファンキーなのに、彼のブルース・ギターは、泥にまみれぬ白鳥のように高貴で優美だ。彼の手にかかれば、濁った泥沼(ブルース)もサファイア色の輝きを取り戻すのかもしれない。 (工藤由美) --- 2003年07月号

円熟味を増したカールトン流ブルースが堪能できる大傑作作品です。
近年の作品群の中ではダントツでこれが一番よいです！いや、３５年のキャリアを持つカールトンの全作品の中でも、１，２を争う出来だと確信しています。

レコード会社からの注文は殆どなく、やりたかったブルースを思う存分にプレイしてる、といった印象。カールトンのギターは、のびのびと歌っていて、ブルース専門にやってきた人なんじゃないの？と思えてしまうくらいフィーリングの出し方が上手いです。全曲素晴らしいのですが、４番と７番は特に絶品。

・カールトンを聴いてみたい人・ブルースを味わってみたい人・ギターを堪能したい人・夜中に聴く音楽を探している人・ブルースに興味がない人・一生聴ける音楽を探している人。
一つでも当てはまったら、絶対買ってください。嵌ります！！人生変わっちゃう人も居るんじゃないかなぁ~。大袈裟じゃないですよ。

ブルーズ色の強いカールトンらしいアルバムです。
メンバーもこれまでのカールトンのメンバーとは違って、また一味違ったアプローチが非常に気持ち良い！！

なんといっても、やはりカールトンの甘いとろけるような歌声（ギターのですよ）は非常に渋くて格好良いです。本作に収録されている“Room335”はやはりこのアルバムのイメージにそってブルージーな、弾んだ心地よい出来になっています。

前編通してブルーズという、ぱっと見変わったラインナップですがカールトンのギターは健在ということでしょう。泥臭いブルーズとJAZZをキレイに織り交ぜた見事な１枚だと思います
７月頭にはサファイアブルーズバンドを引き連れて来日ということですし、待ち遠しい限りです。

すばらしいブルースアルバムです。最高！！待ってました！！

最近のカールトンのアルバムの中ではかなりシンプルな感じで、打ち込みのサウンドがなくこのようなアルバムを待ってた方は多いのではないでしょうか。ブルージーな感じですが適度に抑制が効いていて、いろいろなタイプのブルースが収録されてます。８曲めのブルースハープとのデュオは今までのカールトンとは違った面が聞けます。ボーナストラックのルーム３３５は新たにブルース風にアレンジされていて、新鮮でかっこいいですよ！！
