   現代のショック・ロッカー、マリリン・マンソン。前作『ホーリー・ウッド』がセールス的に不振だったからか、それとも『アンチクライスト・スーパースター』『メカニカル・アニマルズ』『ホーリー・ウッド』と続いた3部作のコンセプトから解き放たれたからか、いずれにせよ、本作ではマリリン・マンソンらしい猥雑（わいざつ）や悪趣味な遊び心が復活している。1930年代のデカダンス文化の影響のもと、スウィングするビッグ・バンドのビートやダンス・ビートを導入するなどリズム面を強化しつつ、デジタルなヘヴィ・ロック・サウンドを多彩な楽曲で彩っている。その意味ではポップで、わかりやすい。やはり、ショック・ロッカーはこうでなきゃ。シリアスになりすぎちゃダメだろう。冒頭で「こいつが新しいデタラメさ！」と高らかに宣言しているように、まさに本作はマンソンの新しいキャリアのスタートだ。（山口智男）

　壮大な三部作『Anti-Christ Superstar』『Mechanical Animals』『Holy Wood』に続く新章の幕開けとしてはこれ以上ないほどの力作。これまでソングライティング、演奏などでマリリン・マンソンの右腕となってきたギタリストTwigy脱退の影響が心配されたがそれも杞憂に終わったようだ。オープニングを飾る"This Is The New Shit"は映画「マトリックス：リローデッド」でも使用されたサイバーパンク。続く"mObscene"はダークなマリマンの世界観に無邪気な少女のコーラスが映える超キャッチーなポップナンバー。さらにロカビリー調のビートでリスナーをぐいぐい引っ張るゴージャスな(4)、シャンソンチックなメロディーを取り入れてデカダンな雰囲気を出すことに成功したタイトルナンバー(6)、「俺は聖者(saint)じゃなく否定の塊(ain't)だ！」とマリマン流ユーモアが冴える(7)等々、前半のパワーは圧巻の一言。マリマン自身が声にヴァラエティのあるシンガーでないので、全18曲もある本作を一気に聴くと後半だれるように感じるが、各曲のクオリティは総じて高い。傑作『Anti~』と並ぶ代表作となりそうだ。

今回のアルバムは、マンソンの原点をあらためて
感じられる作品だと私は思いました。
原点に戻ったフレッシュさが、新たな魅力となっていて
好印象を与えます。
新たなマンソンの魅力を感じられる作品だと思いますので
マリリンマンソンの音楽をずっと注目している人で
音源を聴いた事の人に、おすすめします。

ＤＶＤもマンソンの遊び心がちらほらと出ていて
とても興味深く、面白い作品でした。

前作から長い時間が経ち、その経過の中で様々な変化があり正直MM自体
どうなっていくのか全く分からなかった。
そんな中でMMから提示された今回のアルバム、かなりイイです（笑）
ツィッギー脱退により、どんなサウンドになったのか不安だったけど
よりリズミカルでアッパーなサウンドとなっていました。

以前からスウィング系サウンドを取り入れて「TheBeautifulPeople」などが
あったが今作のスウィング系集大成とも言える「ドール - ダッガ・バズ - バズ・ジゲッティ - ザグ」が、
ビッグバンドなサウンドになっていてMMの聞きやすい音作りに驚いた。
今作のキーポイントは「アホみたいに聞きやすい音」だと思われます（笑）

反キリスト教のスターだっていないし、両性具有のエイリアンもいない中で
今回のマンソンは造語を使いサウンドだけで聞き惚れるアルバムを作った。
日本先行といい、サウンドだけといい、なんか今作は日本のファンへ向けた作りだなぁと思いました。
日本人なら買うべし（笑）
