4.0 out of 5 stars 淡々と続くドキュメンタリー, 2003/8/18
現役ダンサーへのインタビューは無く、リハーサル風景が淡々と続きます。芸術監督が電話しているシーンなどの裏方業務が何度か見られますが、裏方業務すぎて、こういったシーンはもっと最小限でも良かったかなと個人的には思います。クリスティーン・ダンハムのリハーサル風景、シンフォニックヴァリエーションズ、は素敵でした。

個人的にはバレエドキュメンタリーとしては”エトワール”の方が好きです。

「アメリカン・バレエ・シアター｣の美しい舞台が出来上がるまでの、泥臭さと言うか人間臭さを感じました。

最初ＤＶＤを見ているときに、解説なしで見ていたのですが、解説つきのモードで見ることをお薦めします。部分部分でトウシューズのイラストが出てきて、それをゲーム？の如く狙って決定ボタンを押すと、作品や人物紹介画面が出ます。ＤＶＤの説明を読まずに、いきなり見ていたので、一体何の練習でこれが誰？と、いちいちチャプターを見て調べていた自分がとても間抜けでした。
これを映画館で見た人は、そのあまりに断片的過ぎる場面の寄せ集めに困惑したのでは？？？ＤＶＤだと、解説つきで楽しめたので、これは、ＤＶＤ向きかもしれません。

映画の中で強烈な印象を残したのが、眼鏡の電話!のおば様。ＡＢＴの公演のあとにキーロフが同じ演目で公演する事に対して、劇場に猛烈な講義をしています。後、バレエ団の経営の難しさも伺われました。あのおば様は凄かった。

それと、「ラ・バヤデール｣のニキヤの振り付け指導をしているイリーナ・コルパコワが素晴らしかった。演技指導を見ているだけで、コルパコワの素晴らしさが伝わる。体の全ての部分、細胞の一つ一つから感情をほとばさせる・・・とか、一生懸命ダンサーに体と言葉で踊りを教えています。

“バレエダンサー”というと、細くってストイックで優雅で可憐で…
というようなイメージを持っていましたが、この作品にはそういう
ダンサーはあまり出ていません。

10年くらい前の作品のせいもあるかもしれませんが、体型もわりと
がっしりした人が多いように感じたし、優雅や可憐というよりも
パワフルで、もっとしたたかな印象のダンサーたち。

そしてダンサーだけでなく、カンパニーを運営してる人（話題の“電話のおばちゃん”)
や衣装、掃除の人など、いろんな人が出てきたのも、バレエの公演が
いかに色んな人に支えられて上演されているのかという、当たり前なんだけど
忘れていたことを思い出させてくれたように思います。
そういう意味で、私はお金の話を延々しまくっていた“電話のおばちゃん”
の存在は、とてもおもしろかったです。

…ただ、最初から解説付きで見ればよかった！
