   2001年アカデミー賞短編アニメーション賞受賞作。自転車に乗り、川岸に来た父と娘。父は娘を岸辺に置いて、船に乗って旅立ってしまう。娘は、それからの人生、父への思いを胸に何度も自転車で岸辺を訪れる。オランダのマイケル・デュドク・ドゥ・ヴィット監督が、たった8分の作品に、娘の人生を凝縮していく。
   人物の表情も見えない遠景のシンプルなタッチ。セピアがかったモノクロを基調にした、水彩の絵本のような画風は、デジタルセルアニメーション制作システム「ANIMO」で再現された。もの悲しさと希望が同居した名曲「ドナウ川のさざ波」が、恐れ入るほど映像にピタリとはまる。人物の微妙な姿勢、合間に挟まれる空や鳥など、繊細な表現で感動させながら、訪れる結末は、あまりに崇高で、ストレートに心をわしづかみ！ 少なくとも10回は観ても飽きないはずで、なにも後に残らない90分の映画を観るより、結局は濃密な時間を与える。「8分の短編のためにDVDなんて…」という固定観念は、本作に不要だ。（斉藤博昭）

わずか8分で＼1800は果たして納得できるか疑問でしたが購入して良かったと思っています。この作品は私の場合、見終わった後はさほど感動はなかったのですが次の日ふとこの作品のストーリーを思い出した時じわじわと感動がわき上がってきました。帰ってこない父をずっと待ち続ける少女の一生を綴ったなんとも切ない内容なのですが６０年以上の時の流れをわずか８分で表現した作者の力量はたいした物です。アニメーションの技術もかなり秀逸です。必見！

セリフも色彩もない、
行間で語る詩のようなアニメーション作品。

想像できる余白が多いから、誰が観ても主人公の少女になってしまう。
目で見てるはずの映像が自分の記憶のように思えてしまう。

この作品には○○賞受賞！　なんていうキャッチコピーすら要らない。
観ればわかります。

ほめすぎのレビューが並んでいると、つい批判したくなる。しかし、このDVDについては・・・批判の言葉が出てこない。最後のシーンを観たとたん、私の心の中に最初のシーンが押し寄せてくる。この作品にとっては８分がちょうど良いのでしょう。あとの時間はそれを観た人がうめてゆく作品。
