このドアーズの「ハートに火をつけて」あたりから、単純なポップスファンからロックファンに変わっていった自分というものを思い出します。全米１位を記録したヒット曲の入ったＬＰ盤(当時はレコードですね）を買って聞いた時の印象が、なんか今までのヒット曲プラス次のヒット曲候補の詰め合わせでなく、おいおいなんか時代が変わりつつあるぞと認識させられた私にとっては非常に意味深いアルバムです。ＬＰレコードが自己主張し始めた名作です。いい作品が多いですが、「水晶の舟」は「ジ・エンド」のような大作ではありませんがぴかっと光っております。もちろんギターソロが入った「ハートに火をつけて」も必聴です。

このCDが発売されてから20年経って自分は生まれました。
当然リアル・タイムでウッドストックを見たことも無いし、ヒッピー・ムーヴメントなんて体験してないです。
しかしこのアルバム、というよりドアーズの音楽は大好きです。
これだけ後世に名を馳せる名盤は中々無いと思います。

オルガンを使った独自のサウンドと、ジム・モリソンの悪魔的なヴォーカルがかみ合って、何ともいえない不思議な世界がドアーズにはある。このアルバムはドアーズのデビュー・アルバムで、最強のアルバムだ。
