この人ならこんなアルバムを作ってもよさそう・・・僕はリリース当時のことは知らないけど、前から彼の音楽を聴いてきた人たちには、そんな期待を望み得る最良のかたちで音にしたアルバムだったんじゃないかな。日本人好みの哀愁、力強さ、美しさ、うねり、そのルーツはアイルランドだった。今でこそ民族的な音を取り入れるのは珍しくないけど、当時は結構な冒険だったようにも思える。かくして彼のアルバムでは最も好きで今でもよく聴くのがこれだが、このリマスター盤はオマケが多すぎて後半は飽きてくる。だからオマケが始まると止めてしまう。しかし名盤には違いない。

最初にジャケを見たときには「この猿顔…ダレ？」って感じでした、友人に勧められ買って気に入りました、元々は歌(Vo)ロックが最優先だったんですけど[Moore]は他の作品も何枚か揃えましたね、[Jeff-Beck]よりもワイルドでダーティなんだと思いますが…泣きもある、色々なバンドに出たり入ったりですけど、やっぱりコノ人はブルースベースが一番似合うのかな。

5.0 out of 5 stars ゲイリームーアー、情念の名作！, 2009/10/8
　自分はブルース好きなんだけど、ゲイリームーアーに関しては、やはりこのアイリッシュハードロック路線が一番好きです。

　ギターのスゴさは言うまでもありません（特に４曲目のthe ronerは絶品です）。しかしギタープレイさながら、このアルバムでのゲイリーはもっと鬼気迫るものがある。
　アイルランド紛争がテーマになっていて、まるで戦場で闘いを終えた男のドラマを観たような荒涼とした感動で胸が熱くなります。

　一曲目over the hills far awayのドラ太鼓のようなドラムから物語に引き込まれ、８曲目thunder risingで胸を焦がすようなクライマックスを迎える。そして９曲目johnny boyでは、戦場を独り生き延びた男の静けさが.......おおげさかな（笑）いや、自分はこのアルバム聴くと、いつもそんな感動を味わうんです。ラストのcrying in the shadowでは、すべて過ぎ去った後のむなしさが響きわたっています。
　楽曲全体の構成も緻密で、アルバム全体がよりドラマチックに仕上がっているんですね。

　自分も年をとって、ハードロックを聴く事も少なくなってきたんですが、いまだにコレは聴きます。いまだに胸が焼かれます。若い人らに是非聞いて欲しいなぁ。
