文句無しの名曲に文句無しの名演という組み合わせがある。
このアルバムもまさにそんな一枚だ。

ベートーヴェンのクロイツェルとスプリング。これは古今東西のヴァイオリンソナタ中でも名曲中の名曲である。
そしてイツァーク・パールマンのヴァイオリン、ウラディーミル・アシュケナージのピアノ。これまた天下一品だ。
良くないはずがない。

クロイツェルの冒頭、パールマンのすっとスタイルのよい、しかし豊穣なヴァイオリンは鮮やかに曲を開始する。
見事な高揚感と適度な圧力であり、音程も抜群にいい！そしてアシュケナージのピアノが加わる。
素晴らしい音色。そして作品との見事の距離感。安定した優しさと、ここぞというときの迫力。大家の演奏とはこいうものだ。

この演奏が出るまでは、オイストラフやスーク、シェリングやティボーといったヴァイオリニストの録音があった。
しかしこの演奏は既成の名演とも一線を画している。それまでこの曲は職人芸というか、格調と重みといったものが重宝されていたように思う。
しかし、このパールマン・アシュケナージ盤は一切の既成の価値観を意識せず、何度も録音・演奏されてきたこの楽曲にまったく新鮮な薫風を送りこんだ。そしてその演奏の美しく力強いこと！
この名演がこの名曲のイメージさえも一新させてしまったと言えるだろう。
これは革命的な演奏でもあったのである。

ちなみにスプリングソナタも勿論文句無し！音楽の楽しみここに極まれりといった胸のすく快演だ。

個人的にはクロイツェルは通常の名演だと思いますが、スプリングは出だしのにおい立つような演奏だけで最高ランクの価値あり！
と云ってもＬＰで聴いた時の話で申し訳ない。

確かにヴァイオリンもピアノも美しい。
それは認めるが、それは表面的なこと。
その表面を磨き上げた先に見えるものが、いまひとつ見えてこない。
ただこの組み合わせで演奏すれば売れるからセッションをしたというだけの気がする。

事実、何の印象も残らない。
