日本盤のタイトル曲「ラジオスターの悲劇」はテレビドラマでも使われたため、耳になさっている方も多いことでしょう。
このVIDEO KILLED THE RADIO STARも、もちろん名曲なのですが、その他の収録曲も実に良い。
ポップソングの色が濃いのですが、所々に実験的な匂いも散見し、
最近のポップにはなかなかない（と言っては語弊がありますが）面白い曲がいっぱいです。

個人的なお勧めはM6:ELSTREEとM10:TECHNOPOP。
M9以降はオリジナルには収録されていなかった曲です。
オリジナルを持ってらっしゃる方にも、そうでない方にも“買い”のアルバムです。

邦題「ラジオスターの悲劇」はだいたいみなさんのレびューのとおりです
（＾＾；特記するのはこの曲、初めてMTVでオンエアーされた曲だと
言う事です、（オンエアーもう1曲はヘッズの短い人生一度きり）
このラジオスター~、ポップな曲にもかかわらず、

歌詞の内容は、「ビデオがあらわれてラジオスターを殺す」それがサビの歌詞、その後につづく「映像が現れてあなたの心を破壊する」という歌詞の曲がMTVの一発目でオンエアー、
、、、、このあたりがトレヴァーホーンのいいところです、
といった訳でこのアルバムも当然「買い」ですよ（＾＾；

バグルスは、トレヴァー・ホーンと、ジェフリー・ダウンズによるユニット。

エレクトリックポップの超名曲にして、79年の大ヒットシングルVideo Killed The Radio Starを含む本作。ひたすらビジネス化していく80年代以降のポップミュージック界を予言するかのように、シニカルな終末観に貫かれている。「Video killed the radio star~♪」という超有名なフレーズと女性ボーカルの「あーわ、あーわ」のコーラス？を聴くだけでも価値のある1枚。80年代の音楽産業のビジネス化の象徴であるMTVが、一番最初にプロモを流したときに使ったのがこの曲というエピソードが残されている。
YMOやTMNが好きな人にはお薦めのアルバムです。Elstreeなどもお薦め。

解散後、ジェフ･ダウンズはAsiaのメンバーとして大活躍をし、トレヴァー・ホーンはプロデューサーとしてYES、Frankie Goes to HollywoodやSEALなどを手掛けて大成功。つい最近では、日本でも話題のt.A.T.u.のプロデュースを手掛けたことでも記憶に新しい。
