2002年に完結した人気コミック「羊のうた」のオリジナルアニメーション第一章。母を亡くし、父の友人夫婦の元へ身を寄せている一砂。ある日、美術部の絵のモデルをしている最中に倒れた一砂は、何かに導かれるようにかつての我家へ向かい始めた。

絵は原作の雰囲気にがんばって似せていると思うし、
声優も原作のイメージと合っているし、演技力も確か。
（八重樫は、ちょっと声の端々に明るさがあるのに違和感を感じるが）

演出的には、出だしから一つのシーンを安定して見せないで、ポンポン画面が切り替わるので、「回想シーン」か「総集編」を見せられているような気分になり、気分が画面に入って行けない。
「今そこで喋っている」というシーンが少なく、景色やその後のシーンなどにナレーションを被せる形で時間進行を省略する演出も、落ち着いて画面に集中できない要因。同じシーンの使い回しが多いのも「作画の手抜き」に感じられ、腹立たしい。
スタッフのテロップの質感も本編とは水と油な感じがして安っぽく感じられた。

音楽はシャカシャカしていて情緒が無い。
場面転換時に入る「シャーン」とか「カーン」の音は少々しつこい。
エンディングの歌は、雰囲気はいいものの、なにか「学芸会」のような臭いがして恥ずかしい。

このOVAは、原作を熟知していることが前提で、
「漫画とは違う形態で物語を楽しんでみたい」という人にしかオススメできない。
とはいうものの、演出力の拙さを原作を読んだときの記憶で脳内補完し、おおらかな心で観続けられる人に限るが……。

それもそのはずで、１~４巻まで全部合わせても、２時間しかないんだよね。
詰め込み過ぎって感じで、無理がある。（原作でさえ７巻まであるっていうのに）
原作の持つどうしようもない苦悩が、さらっと流されてる。
それと、人物の表情が平面的。
アニメだから仕方ないけど、それならアニメ化する意味ってあったのか？と思う。
僕の結論としては、原作だけで充分。

私は、ＴＶのＣＭを見て、購入したのですが…正直、ちょっと残念でした。話が一話だけというなら、画像が相当綺麗なんだろうな~と思っていたのですが、手抜きが多すぎる気がします。しゃべっている時も、心の中を表す為に口を動かしていないようですが…殆ど絵は動かずに、音声だけで進んでいくのは…どうでしょう？動きも、カチコチとまではいきませんが、今のアニメとしては珍しいくらいヘタな動きです。
ストーリも面白いし、声優さんも豪華なのに残念です。
