輸入盤店において、異例とも言える記録的セールスを密かに記録していた、大名盤。
さて、その魅力と新しさとは何か。

それは、「エレクトロニカ」、分かりやすく例えるなら、ボーズ・オブ・カナダの音楽に象徴されるような、歌メロなしの電子音のみで、こんなにまで情景を表現できるのかという、新しい音楽的驚きをもたらしてくれたジャンルの中でも、フェネズは、「ノイズ」という、これまで確立されてきたエレクトロニカの中でも異端の分野に取り組みながら、如何なるエレクトロニカも鳴らすことのできなかった、「エモーション」を鳴らしているという点に尽きる。
素人目には、"プチプチ"だの"シャーシャー"言っているだけのノイズが、フェネズの知性と意志により、常軌を逸するほど、「メロディック」に音楽を物語る。
『エンドレス・サマー』というタイトルは、外れているようで当たっている。

この作品の描き出したエモーションとは、夏の終わりを思わすような、切なさである。
しかし、この極めて実験性に富んだ情景の描き方は、「実験」に捕らわれず、エンドレスな「普遍」へと続く。

この男の他の作品は、あくまで「実験」なノイズ・インプロ作が多い中、この『エンドレス・サマー』だけは、一般的なエレクトロニカ・ファンだけでなく、幅広い音楽ファンが聴くべき、歴史的名作である。

電子信号歪音はかなり鋭いです。でもゆったりループしていたり、配置された音程の起伏が軽い催眠トランス状態に誘う様だったりとノイズだけでも快適。
そこにアナログ楽器の音色が混合されているので更に快適です。その快適さは聞く人それぞれの忘れてた記憶や、タイトル通りの感傷的な部分を呼び起こしたりします。

2001年にリリースされた時から現在まで、一部のファンのみの間で語られてるけど、（まるでVUの1枚目の様に）年数を重ねて評価がじわじわ高まり最終的にメジャーな名盤となるでしょう。
このアルバムを聞くのと聞かないのでは、その人の（ミュージック）ライフはかなり違ってくるのではないでしょうか？

　聴くたびに感じる深さこそが、まさにEndllessという言葉にふさわしいと言えます。

　ノイズはゆらりゆらりと夏の海面の如く、記憶のベールを剥がしてゆくような感覚へと誘います。
