正直、30周年記念デジタル・リマスタリングによる音質向上については、ヴァン・モリソン、デヴィッド・ボウイ、エリック・クラプトン、レッド・ツェッペリン、ピンク・フロイドなどなど、ほかのアーティストの名盤リマスターを聴いた時ほどの驚きはありませんでした。

でも、メロディアスな本編から一転して、トラック12、13の「ハンギン・ラウンド」「パーフェクト・デイ」の未発表アコースティック・デモ／ボーナス・トラックで聴かせるルー・リード渾身の弾き語りには、圧倒されました。ボブ・ディランなんかもそうだけども、ルー・リードも含めて、60年代から70年代のフォーク‐ロック革命の渦中にあった人物による弾き語りは、現在流行りの（ハウス風の）R＆Bやトランスなどのメカニカルな音作りが少しの間が経って最新の機器が導入されればすぐに古臭く感じられるのが必定なのに対して、そして「プラグド」と対になって「プラグド」を引き立てるために駆り出される安っぽい「アンプラグド」とは違って、永遠に色褪せない響きや音楽に対する高い志を感じさせてくれます。

詳細なオリジナル・ライナーノーツ、ルーをフィーチャーしたピクチャーCDは力作です。トラック13が終わった空白のあとには、隠しボーナス・トラックとして、『トランスフォーマー』の代表曲がBGMとして次々と流れるなか、（ルーによるものではない）ナレーションがアルバム紹介をしていく（ので、たぶん）ラジオ・スポット（CM）が入っています。

Lou ReedやDavid Bowieを知らない若い世代にとって、本作がいかに名盤かを語るのは他の方にお任せするとして…。
既発盤(RCA B20D-41005)に較べ、音質はかなりの向上感がある。
音量レベル自体が大きくなり、籠もり気味だった低音の輪郭がはっきりし、#1など埋もれがちだったボーカルが際立った印象。
Lou自身、録音・音質にこだわりを持つ人だから、今回のリマスターはファンにとっても好意的に受け取られるのではないだろうか。
装丁も原盤にかなり忠実なジャケットに改められ、当時の貴重な写真が載った16pカラーブックレット。
それに原盤ライナーノーツの和訳、歌詞、訳詞がつく（白黒20p）。
ボーナストラックとして加えられた#12,#13はデモバージョン。
今では至ってシンプルな構成で聴くことの多いLouの曲の中でも、アコギ一本で歌われる2曲はかなりの衝撃度がある。
音質、ブックレット、ボーナストラック、そして作品自体の質の高さ、どれをとっても買い直す価値がある充実の内容だ。
個人的にはSuper-Audio CD(Hybrid仕様)の発売であれば尚嬉しかった。

　およそ２７年前に出会った作品で、ダイヤモンドの針が擦り切れてしまうくらい繰り返し回した当時のドーナツ・・そのころは、パテイ・スミス、ケイトブッシュ、ブロンディだったりして、でもやっぱり、ルーリードと組んで完成させたこの作品の立役者のデヴィドボウイが賞賛！
