“The God Of Voice”グレン・ヒューズの、2001年の「BUILDING THE MACHINE」以来となるニュー・ソロ・アルバム。

“The Voice Of ROCK”が遂に我らの元に帰ってきた！長年、“元DEEP PURPLEのグレン・ヒューズ”の呪縛（？）に抗い、彼自身の演りたい音楽（＝ファンク・ロック）を貫いてきたが、その度にファンからは失望の声が聞こえてくるという状況が続いていた。しかし、昨年のジョー・リン・ターナーとのHUGHES TURNER PROJECTの成功が彼の考えを変えた。

ここに聴かれるのは、徹頭徹尾第3~4期DEEP PURPLEの音だ。つまり、メロディックで、適度にグルーヴィなハード・ロックである。勿論、「売れるため」ではない。自身が最も輝く音楽性に気が付いたのだ。

ヘヴィなキーボードに導かれる1、リフがRAINBOWの“16th Century Gleensleeves”的な2、DPの“Lady Double Dealer”辺りを思わせる3等、全てがグレンのVoを最大限活かし切った佳曲揃い。ヘヴィ・ブルーズ6や、パンキッシュな7も最高だ。

腹を括った男の底力は・・・凄い！！

5.0 out of 5 stars グレン再生の切欠となったアルバム, 2005/3/27
ヒューズターナープロジェクトを経験することにより
グレンはロックに目覚めたと思う。
HTPのノリそのままの勢いで作られたこの作品は
DeepPurpleの彼が好きな人は間違いなく気に入る作品です。
楽曲のクオリティも非常に高くグレンのボーカルも超絶。
惜しいのはJJのギターソロか？この人のギターの音は
非常に気持ちの良いストラトナチュラルオーバードライブで
個人的には最高です。バッキングに冴えがあるので
ソロもカッコいいのを弾けるのだろうけど　今ひとつ。
グレンの好みかもしれないけど・・　本当は結構弾ける人です。
私はグレンのファンキーな一面も好きなので　そういった
面も期待していたのですが、これだけの内容なら満足です。
これがもっと　もっと良くなったのが最新作Soul Moverです。
私は星5つ以上あげます。この作品を気に入った方、
是非Soul Moverも聞いてください。
