   石ノ森章太郎原作の長編冒険アニメ。不気味な幽霊船とロボットの対決が冒頭から展開されるが、実はロボットのほうが悪の組織が操っており、幽霊船はその野望を打破するために活動しているという、逆転の構図がおもしろい。またその外観とは裏腹に、最新鋭の兵器を使って幽霊船が敵を攻撃するくだりの描写の細かさには舌を巻く(若き日の宮崎駿が手がけたそうだ）。すべての悪の黒幕が戦争を起こして武器を売る、兵器商人との設定が石ノ森原作らしく、それに対して少年が持ち前の正義感と行動力で立ち向かうというシンプルな筋立て。巨大ロボットを使った大規模な都市破壊だけでなく、ボアジュースなる飲料水を使って市民を中毒にしてしまうなど、凝った侵略シチュエーションの描写はいつ見てもうなってしまう。（斉藤守彦）

昭和４４年公開。父に連れて行ってもらった記憶はあるものの、内容はさすがに覚えていなかった。
今回ＤＶＤで観て、ややご都合主義のストーリー展開が気になったものの全体として非常に高いレベルのアニメだったことが改めて確認できた。
残念なのは後半から結末を急ぎすぎた感が残ること。いろいろと制約があったに違いないのだが、前半が非常に凝った謎で観る者を引っ張っていくだけにおしい。
あとＤＶＤとして、もう少し特典を充実させて欲しい。予告、アートギャラリーがついているが、他には資料がないのだろうか。洋画のＤＶＤは価格破壊が進んでいるだけに、この価格には注文をつけたくなってしまう。

小学二年の時、観た。あの時は、すごくボリュウムがあるナと、思ったが、60分だったのか。兎に角、表現は平明、内容は濃厚、三十年を経た今も充分見ごたえがある。 当時、あの黒い某大手炭酸飲料水に関する風聞(骨や歯が溶ける・中毒になる等)を考えると子供なりに複雑な気分になったものだ。 又、今回みたときは、9・11を思いだした(我ながら、短絡的だと思うけど) 体制、反体制または、善悪の概念を自分なりに形成するきっかけだったかも。 宮崎アニメの特徴もすでに備えている。凛々しく強いヒロイン、体制に立ち向かう主人公など…唯、価格が高すぎ。

公開時の子供の頃に観たっきりで自分にとっては
「幻の映画」でした。ソノシートを買ってもらって
強い印象は残っていました。
しかし今回30年振りくらいで見返してみると
凄い「反米」「左翼」的な映画だったので
本当に驚きました。あの頃の東映の争議については
多少ながらも情報があったのですが、まさかここまでとは。

今では大泉の撮影所敷地内を削って大きなシネコンが建ち
組合も弱い時代になったものだ、としみじみしてしまいます。
