   主演映画『スウェプト・アウェイ』は散々だったようだったけれど、『MUSIC』以来、3年ぶりとなる10thアルバムは、対イラク戦争の真っ只中、彼女にとって愛憎入り混じる祖国アメリカについて歌った作品を発表するという意味で、良くも悪くも話題になるにちがいない（当然、確信犯なんだろうけど）。『007』の主題歌「ダイ・アナザー・デイ」も収録されていることを踏まえると、我々が考えている以上にこの作品は深い？ ともあれ、音楽という意味では、前作でもコンビを組んだミルウェイズ・アマッザイによるサウンドが冴えている。加えて、今回はアコースティック・サウンド主体で聴かせる曲も収められ、そういう曲で聴かせる淡々とした…と言うよりは、抑制のきいたヴォーカルが特に素晴らしい。（山口智男）

「戦争反対!!」というようなことでも話題になったマドンナの新作…何となく気になっていた。気にしているところに、「不評!!」との記事を目に留めたこともあった。「そんなに酷い?」と却って興味を覚えた。一定程度の質の作品を、実績で十二分な知名度のあるアーティストが発信するなら、少なくとも「それなり…」のものであるケースが多い。

と思いながら実際に入手して聴いてみた。なかなか気に入った!!

この10年程のマドンナ作品は、何となく「電子の効果音も派手で、踊る音楽」という勝手なイメージもあったが、今回の作品は意外にアコースティックな音が多用されており、“新しい側面”を見つけられたような気もする。「歌を聴いて!!」というものが伝わる。米国事情には必ずしも明るくないのだが、歌?も一寸考えながら聴いた…

どうしても今までのマドンナのイメージが強かったため、久しぶりにオリジナアルバムを聴き驚きました! こんな曲も歌うんだって思ったのが第一印象でした。でもこのアルバムの楽曲はアコースティックギターのせいかナチュラルでいてリラックスした成熟したボーカルが魅力的。やっぱりマドンナは凄い!!と思わせるアルバム。

ジャケットからは想像もつかなかっただけに、何かといつも彼女に驚かされっぱなしです! 聴くぞーって力が要らずに、日常の中でスーッと入ってくる優しいメロディーだと感じました。
また　違ったマドンナに出会えるはずです。

ＭＡＤＯＮＮＡの今までのアルバムの中でも聴き応えのある素晴らしい仕上がり。しかも全曲、超カッコいー！。私はハワイ旅行中、レンタカーで聞いていました。勿論、ドライブにもピッタリ。アメリカのレンタカーはウーハーが標準だから迫力満点で聞けますよ。
